Exciting news this morning with the North American Tool tour with Killing Joke is confirmed, and that a Toolarmy pre-sale seems to be happening. I can’t see any detail of this on the site just yet, but it mentions that September 4th is the on sale date. There should also be VIP packages available.

Killing Joke are a very good band.
It would be impressive if they brought them when they come to Australia, but probably unlikely.
I’ve seem a lot of comments throwing shade at them and I don’t really understand why ; I guess it’s just Tool fans being Tool fans.
Incredible band indeed, I’d like to see them with Tool but that will probably not happen in Europe.
“Killing Joke are a very good band.†Holy shit on a shingle Maynerd said something that makes sense. Fuck me.
How rude.
So if I sign up for ToolArmy, do I get instant access or do I have to wait the ungodly amount of time for the merch kit I may never get in order to get that presale action?
I joined Toolarmy some 6 years ago, still waiting patiently for the merch kit. I’m sure it’ll be here soon.
From what I am aware of, joining Toolarmy will only get you VIP presale packages which are $500+. Which includes going to the sound check, and a T-shirt and maybe being able to get a photo with the band. And also a stipulation that a photo or handshake from the members may not happen at every show, and that if that occurs it may not be all members there (which means that MJK will never be at any of them). I recommend you do not sign up for Toolarmy if you are thinking they will do a standard presale for… Read more »
what a great support band! I envy you US based fans
I hope they have some non VIP tickets avail for these shows during the presale. Would love to do VIP again but can’t swing it this time. Good luck to all those trying for VIP though, it’s an amazing experience ✊
Could you elaborate on why the VIP package is worth it? Having never done it I’d like to hear why its worth the high cost.
The benefits are you get a ticket within the first 5 rows, a private Q&A session with Adam, signed concert poster by Adam, soundcheck with Adam, Danny & Justin, merch table access before general public and a swag bag with items like guitar picks, phone charger, keychain. I may be forgetting something else but I’ve done it twice now and look forward to doing it a third time. 🤘
Well it isn’t worth it.
And Hellboi, can you update all the info on the right of the screen on the main page…

Why isn’t it worth it Nerd? You say it isn’t yet don’t explain yourself. Hard to believe you without credibility
Haven’t heard anyone saying bad things about the VIP, but $500 is a but much for me (though I am considering it if it’s an option next Aussie tour)
Back in 2013, $500 was a lot of money for me to spend on the VIP experience (and it still is a lot) BUT I justified it as “How many chances will I get to do this in my life?” I was sitting about 2.5 metres from Adam Jones while he played Jambi for us and answered a whole bunch of questions over about 45 minutes to an hour. I also got to see them do soundcheck stuff for about 20 minutes and got early entry to the GA section… which allowed me to be front row right in front… Read more »
Indeed, it’s a once in a lifetime experience, so a tough one to put a value on. In Australia it’s slightly less value, as so far our shows have always been standing, so no fight for a front row seat (being close to the stage is not really something I crave anyway).
Mine was the 2nd Sydney show back in May, 2013 and the entire floor was GA so getting up front was cool. However, I agree with you: front row isn’t ideal for me. I always try to stand in the middle of floor somewhere between the mixing desk and the stage so you can get a better perspective of everything.
In short though: if you can afford the $500 to do the VIP and you really love the band, you should do it once. I have no regrets whatsoever 🙂
I wouldn’t do it for $1000 though.
Hey, all. I did the Arizona VIP back in 2013 and it was a great experience and I got a front row ticket, just left of center (sadly my only front row ticket). It was worth every penny, but don’t think I’ll do it again if offered here in AZ. If anyone isn’t 100% sure yet can afford it, I’d say go for it. You will not be disappointed.
They don’t. It’s just VIP.
Tool: “turn off your television” Also Tool: “we’re putting a speaker and screen on our CD” … LoL
Does anyone have any experience purchasing preorders from Tool Army? Any advice?
My only advice is to prepare yourself for disappointment. Can’t remember they had a pre-sale that wasn’t VIPs and/or a clusterfuck
I was afraid of the clusterfuck scenario. I’ll give it a shot and keep my expectations low.
god i hate the south. tool NEVER come here. ever.
Don’t hate the South. Hate Tool.
Weird there is no date for the Friday after Halloween. Also weird they are skipping Minneapolis (again), especially considering they have connections at Grumpys (Adam has even been a guest bartender there). I’m wondering if something is afoot. They’ll be in the midwest after all.
Indeed. Also, I found it interesting there was no Vancouver, Canada show either. Guess I won’t be seeing them this year then 🙁
They almost always play the Vancouver, Seattle, Portland area if there doing California shows. I wonder if they’ll have more dates to announce in a week or two.
Past experience says Tool have only announced a small portion of the tour dates. This album is a long time coming and they are far from lazy. There will be many more dates added all over the world to promote the new music. I hope they announce some smaller venue, more exclusive shows as well. We will all know soon enough…
There will be further touring, no doubt. I wouldn’t hold my breath for more US dates in 2019 though. I also think the days of small venue shows are behind them.
They’ve toured the US plenty over the past several years. Time for them to make some time for other countries.
VIP only, it appears. And only a handful of dates. Hoping there is more in AM, but I doubt it.
Disappointed, but not unexpected I’m afraid. MIght be time to bust out this rant again https://www.fourtheye.net/2017/03/open-letter-tool-regarding-concerts-presales
