In a disappointing, yet not entirely unexpected turn of events, Tool have revealed that the ToolArmy pre-sale for the upcoming North American tour will be VIP tickets only. Expected to be $500, these tickets feature a range of things which are cool and all, but you didn’t really need to spend $50 joining ToolArmy to receive.
I’ve ranted about this disappointing state of affairs before. VIP tickets are a great experience, so get on them – I know I will be considering it when the next come Down Under.
For those of you unwilling or unable to fork out $500 for a VIP ticket, I wish you the best of luck in what will probably be a painful few days for some.
It really is amazing they charge an annual membership fee for the chance to pay $500 for the VIP tickets. The annual price isn’t even worth a lifetime membership.
EDIT: The site is crashing right now.
I can’t tell if this is an easy money-grab for them or not. Even putting a limit on the presales and requiring ID verification on the tickets would discourage scalping. I think it’s a disrespect to fans and a level of greed. Also, how does stubhub have exact seats/sections before the tickets go on sale?
A cash grab is basically what this amounts to. These VIP tickets do virtually nothing to address the scalping issue.
… and the whole thing was a complete shit show. The site is down again.
Wrong forum but as an FYI to Amazon au pre-order people (FI CD). My delivery was pushed out to Oct/Nov last Sat and today it seems it is on board for delivery!
And has it arrived?
Yes. I am very happy. CD sounds mint on a decent car stereo. If they release another batch I’ll prob buy one and keep it sealed.
Anyone else notice this is the first VIP session (to my knowledge) that didn’t include adams session (or early version of music clinic with danny and justin too)?
Good observation. This whole thing reeks of fuckery. Seems like a ghost town around here right now.
I can’t remember, and cannot be bothered to even look it up but I think they are two seperate VIPs.
The one you are thinking about is the whole thing where they rent a venue and it’s danny, Justin, and Adam for two hours.
And they play some songs and there are very long chats. And you get a ticket to the show.
2nd type of VIP is the one they’ve just sold tickets to, which is going to the actual Arena the concert is in and standing there watching them do soundcheck.
I never understood why people buy these VIP deals, it seems like such a rip off, especially considering the fact that these are some of the most timid musicians in the business. “This is our lord and saviour, if you want to see him, pay up, sit down, smile and listen to whatever he has to say about something you already know. Have a question, want to know if the lord has used 10s or 11s on that particular jam you like, line up, smile and raise your hand. You’ll also get a free piece of plastic in a neat… Read more »
LOL even though he doesn’t take part in the VIP’s he still takes his cut. They’ve said in many interviews they split equally four ways.
pretty cheap / tacky tricks. only defense I can think of is
A fool and his gold are soon parted.
(so shut up and…)
As a long time tool fan i never had joined toolarmy. However in januaryvof this year i did, in anticipation of the great things to come this year. Amd i cannot be more disappointed. Especially how there was no offer on the album itself to toolarmy members and now the tour. Biggest waste of money. I will not be renewing next year.
