Just a couple of quick updates, firstly Tool bass player Justin Chancellor will be taking part in the Berklee College of Music’s bass player seminar this Thursday at 10 am US Pacific time. Instagram has all the details you need!
Also happening this weekend is a stream from the Baked Potato, featuring Danny Carey sitting in with the Webb All Stars. If you’re like me, and always been keen to check out Danny in the Potato, then this is as good a chance as any without hitting up the City of Angels. You can find the stream here, and it kicks off at 7pm on Friday night (I assume at local time).
Worth mentioning… The Doug Webb Group stream is not free. There is an $8 cover charge, which is quite reasonable when you consider the normal Baked Potato cover for this band is around $25, and there is a 2 drink minimum. No drink minimum for watching at home, nor maximum (I suppose, but drink responsibly), and the drinks are probably cheaper.
I noticed the fee not long ago actually. Personally I’m expecting a 6 drink minimum to be enforced at my place.
Doug Webb Group is made up of some exceptional players. As Doug is a saxophonist, one can usually expect the material to lean towards horn-based jazz (Coltrane, Miles Davis, Freddie Hubbard), but he always leaves some room for the the other 4 band members to get quality time.
The show starts around mid-day for you, so plenty of drinking time to get those 6+.
