A video come out back in October from Synth jockey Peter Grenader, who’s worked with Danny Carey numerous times, in particular his Toolbox synth from recent Tool tours and the track Chocolate Chip Trip. Below is a Youtube clip of him twiddling some knobs on Danny’s synth. Importantly this video has a comment:
Yup! Was just over there last week, going to be back this week. Working on a a couple of projects with him currently. One is directly TOOL related, so i cant speak about publicly and the other is getting two “e “series Buchla synth modules integrated into his vintage Buchla 200 (before the E series) , with an additional power supply required to do that right. Of course there is also our ongoing project we’ve been working on together for years – determining if elves are real without the aid of liquor. 😉

No idea what will come from this, we can speculate that it’s some kind of new recording, but who know really. To think they just rolling out 7empest live before lockdown. You wonder if we’re ever going to hear it again.
I’ve been listening to TOOL archive shows on youtube and in almost every show I hear a semi-alternate / extended song that I’m hearing for the first time. As a life long fan I didn’t think that was possible! Anyone out there have a good list of alternate/extended versions of their songs? They have so much archival content to release … why is this not a priority for this band? The “you have to experience TOOL only live” excuse doesn’t work … it’s all “good enough” on Youtube. I’d gladly pay for a proper live digital TOOL experience. Come on… Read more »
Looks like the Buchla Synth is working on something Pizza related.
I don’t think this has anything to do with new music or a new record. I assume it’s related to their live shows. Nobody really knows though, but that’s immediately what I thought.
