The October 2016 Tool Newsletter is out (tucked away in the Newsletter section), and it comes with a warning for some of you negative Nancy’s out there:
WARNING!
THIS NEWSLETTER CONTAINS CONTROVERSIAL TOOL-RELATED INFORMATION. IF YOU FEEL THAT YOU DO NOT WISH TO KNOW THIS INFORMATION OR HAVE THIS INFORMATION IN YOUR POSSESSION, DO NOT READ ANY FURTHER, AND LEAVE THIS WEBSITE.
For many of you, this is all you’ll need to read, as continuing further would result in only frustration and more negative comments on this blog post.

so in other words is he finally saying he knows these newsletters are crap for the most part and people dont care about them that much anymore ? kinda sounds like it. wha wha.
That newsletter is all sorts of confusing. – How is it logistically sensible to have their rehearsal space moved to Kansas? Did it actually move? – Is he really admitting that moving the rehearsal space was/is the curveball? – Why would anyone need a “warning” before reading that information? I guess, he’s at least claiming to have injected misinformation into the newsletters… so either he’s revealing an actual truth now, or just lying about the rehearsal space move/curveball now. And in all seriousness, I don’t care either way, but that only re-enforces the perspective that any scraps of actual “tool… Read more »
You got at exactly what I was thinking. I read it, and it was like reading a jumbled mess of metaphors and what-not. Exactly why I don’t ever read his “news” letters.
Maybe it’s time for those that “don’t ever” read his newsletters to actually start doing so.
There are so many ways to get Tool news these days (Fourtheye, Facebook, Reddit, etc) that there’s almost no reason to read the newsletters if Blair’s writing isn’t your thing.
It’s why I come here to get the basic stuff I seek after, hellboy1975.
Why should I “actually start doing so”? All they do is lead people into deeper confusion, and speak in ways that I’ve yet see anyone go “yup, I know exactly what Blair is talking about here.”
I don’t really disagree with your statement lumps, if it were my band I’d approach the dissemination of information to Tool fans differently.
That said, I think Blair has his place. Most of the frustration here lies not from what Blair says, but that the other members of the band don’t really seem to communicate anything. Blair isn’t much more than the focal point for fans frustrations.
what tool news???
There is no and will be no new Tool album.
Don’t be so certain.
You’ve been taken for a ride (by an incompetent drug addict with writers block). Me too, only I figured it out a couple of years ago. Not that that’s any kind of accomplishment.
Again, – Samadhi Band is some solace for me.
RIP Tool.

lol, god I think I genuinely hate that dude now. It’s not April Fool’s day… I don’t see how it’s warranted to intentionally fuck with Tool fans.
What a joke. Don’t know why I still read this mess of misinformation. Probably the slim chance of a shred of real news. But no, never. I agree with everyone saying they come here for real news. But I think I’m done with the “official” tool news outlet. And the site itself just makes me feel really old at this point. I remember when those graphics and the layout and menus were new and really cool looking. That must have been what, ’99ish?
I sometimes think they’re amidst the process of updating their website, still working on the album (I know, it’s been too long), making lots of new art pieces, working on music videos (Opiate and The Pot), and possibly other stuff, but
who am I kidding?
I’ve never seen a band so stuck in the past.
They have a huuuuuuuuuuuge amount of hype and lost time to fill.
Yeah that newsletter is somehow the tipping point for me. Fuck off Blair and your condescending attitude about “negativity”, whether it’s in jest or not. Any grown adult still into aliens and Crowley in 2026 is a bit of a burnout,. What used to be amusing is now insulting and idiotic. Tool doesn’t have to care or do anything, but what a shitty way to handle such a massive gift of chemistry! No updates have occurred at all that they have talked about. I’m of the opinion that the “new album” is only mentioned to keep us diehards showing up… Read more »
The year is 2016. Not 2026. Maybe I entered a Blairian Wormhole and aligned with the astrological Meme-Renderer to produce an alternate timeline that would ensure the next Tool album, entitled “Sarcophagus Coughing Fit”, will be the first and only 4th dimensional experience, which will prove that we are 2D digitized thoughtforms living on a superconductive computer chip projected from the Saturn-Moon matrix holographic projection machine (as referenced by Stanley Kubrick in 2001 Space Odyssey) and that every set of ears that listens to the new tunes on vinyl on a record player that pre-dates CD production will escape this… Read more »
As good and as informative as any newsletter I’ve ever seen. Spot on.
As I’ve sort of said before, is there anyone but me who wishes they’d just cut their losses and just give e…………
Ahh fuck it…
This is the utter shit you’ve been defending and finding meaning in for 10 years…..
This is your band, this is what you want, this is what you get….
In other news – Puscifer was fantastic at Voodoo. MJK front and center and jamming out the entire time (albeit in a full body tiger costume with an Eyes Wide Shut type of mask.
Tool rocked it too but I sure miss Lateralus as a closer.
That was show 23 for me and I can’t wait to do it again.
It’s been fun listening to A/Descending evolve over the last 4 shows I’ve heard them play it and there is no doubt the new album will drop and all will be well wth the world.
@ out…
Stinkfist.
i agree – i definitely noticed descending evolve since phoenix (heard it live for the first time there, and also in st. louis and little rock since).
same with danny’s solo. people suggested it went in the merkaba direction, but other than the “psychedelic experience” part, i don’t think it did at all. i like it way, way better. it went to some other fucking amazing place, like a worthy album piece in and of itself!
this album will be the absolute shit!
Hellboy, if I recall correctly we’ve discussed on this page before about references to Rance Q. Spartley (bug man) coinciding with tour dates. Do you think there is anything deeper to this newsletter or not?
Given that Tool has just completed some dates, Danny has some Volto dates, and Puscifer will be down under it’s hard to imagine that’s the case. But wanted to get your thoughts.
It wouldn’t be that far fetched to think Tool could do a small Australia / New Zealand tour to coincide with the Puscifer tour. Since Maynard would already be there it would be convenient for him to do a few dates with the “other guys”. I was just really hoping that, like last year’s Monster Mash Halloween show, that this little mini-tour inspired them to do another US tour again, hopefully closer to the Northeast this time! I’d love for a new album to be released soon just as much as everyone else but I’ll take Tool live any time… Read more »
No chance Tool would be touring at such short notice.
I generally agree toolman, but this time around I don’t think dates are around the corner. I’m pretty sure I’ve seen this before, and been proven wrong, but I think this recently finished leg is the last time we’ll see them live prior to the next album.
Making the assumption a release is at least on the horizon, it would make sense however for Tool’s management to begin planning for touring following it’s release.
Are you making the assumption a release is on the horizon, hellboy? I’m just wondering.
It seems HIGHLY unlikely anytime soon. Unless Maynard’s some wizard who somehow got his parts somewhat or all the way done.
Besides, my life’s not on wait for them, but it will surely feel good to have something new out.
I said “Making the assumption” so it’s a safe to assume that it was an assumption.
I have no expectations in regards to a release window and am making observations based purely on what I’d consider a best case scenario.
Thanks for the optimism hellboy. Lumps, I don’t think Maynard’s parts are the concern. Don’t want to get into a discussion about the new album, but Maynard’s part is the least of our concern.
It’s sad when a fan website has more information than the actual band page, especially when they consolidate all of it on the front page. Thanks Fourtheye.
Read the November newsletter … in the October newsletter, the bullshit about the bullshit was all bullshit…
Finally Blair is part of a Christopher Nolan movie…
I’ve got it. Cracked the code.
New album will be called, “Liar’s Paradox”.
