Me thinks these will be stadium shows unfortunately. 1 show in each location.
Hopefully they have issues with availability for those venues and downgrade to multiple shows in Arena(ish) sized venues.
If they are going to be held in Marvel Stadium, AAMI Park… that will be disappointing.
Knowing their laziness they will probably do one 20k+ show in each state.
Well done on getting onto this so quickly, Mein Hellboi…
I dunno that they’re big enough for stadium sized venues. I suspect it’ll be Rod Laver Arena again in Melbourne, and the like in other cities.
After reviewing stadium capacities I have to agree.
Jaw droppingly, Adele played 2 shows at Marvel Stadium in 2017.
75k in attendance at each show.
I don’t know why they continue to play Rod Laver Arena. The audio is atrocious. You should only have to listen to a band outside at a festival. I usually come down from Sydney each time they tour, so I can see them twice. However if they play Rod Laver again I might give it a miss.
What are the options though? The Music Bowl the only other venue, which is nice if you have seats, not quite as good in the outer. A I’m guessing much more limited in regards to the lighting rig.
I’ve seen them all times they’ve played Rod Laver. The 2001 and 2002 shows were awesome sound wise. 2013 wasn’t so good. I was in general admission for all of them.
Sorry I meant Sidney Myer Bowl. I get confused by all the changing names of stadiums etc. Rod laver is much better a venue.
Myer Music Bowl is only good if you can get in the seated area at the front, Which is probably only a couple thousand seats. I stood on the grass on the 2007 tour and it was the worst sounding show I’ve ever attended.
Auckland not Australia fyi 😉
I think Brisbane Entertainment Centre, Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney, Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne and Perth Arena. Is it Spark Arena in Auckland now? Looking forward to seeing what they announce… 🙂
Yep, I imagine the venues will be much the same as last tour.
Yeah I can’t see it changing for any reason.
Place your bets: will The Fear inoculum album I ordered from toolband back in september arrive here in Australia before the band themselves do. Still no ETA.
They should just bring copies with them on tour.
lol. I will be happy if it arrives before them. I am not holding my breath though.
I’m so tired of them only playing Auckland for NZ. They could sell out 2 cities here easy. It’s such a cop out.
Also, why Rod Laver? Last i saw them in Melb (many moons ago) was at Sidney Myer Music Bowl… was fantastic.
Agreed regards to them playing less shows. Not sure they’d sell out Christchurch or Wellington, but I’d be surprised if there weren’t enough punters to at least make if viable. Same goes with Adelaide.
hell yeah they’d sell out Wellington and ChCh. Much smaller venues than Auckland, Probably too small for them these days….I plan to get across for an Aussie show too.
brah they would 100% sell out either Wellington or Christchurch.
Last time they played in Auckland they put on a second show the night after, in response to high demand – and sold out both nights. In the same city.
Put a couple of entries into the social media comp for tickets. A show at the music bowl in Melbourne would be great.
This is awesome news, I’ve never missed them when they’ve toured. I’m hoping to do the VIP thing this time round. Am I right thinking that 7 years is their longest gap between Oz tours?
That could be the case I guess – I hadn’t thought about it. It doesn’t feel like it’s been that long…
Interesting, could be late Feb. Could tool be one of the Download headliners? I also note RATM announcing tour dates in USA a week or 2 after download dates + Iron maiden about to drop dates. Side shows being announced after download first line up release me-thinks?
Download dates were announced last week, and are later in March so unlikely I imagine. Download lineup gets announced tomorrow. Doubt it’ll be RATM either. Seems likely it might be Iron Maiden or SOAD.
