Reports from the K-Rock Centre website suggest that Tool are playing in Kingston, Ontario in Canada on the 4th of August. Tickets go on sale this Friday at 10am local time. This gig is not confirmed on Toolband as I write this.
Tool have been revealed as the headline act for the Epicenter Festival in Pomona, CA on August 22nd. Other acts on the bill include Linkin Park, Alice In Chains, Wolfmother, Atmosphere, Atreyu and Tom Morello’s Street Sweeper Social Club. Tickets go on sale this Saturday on Ticketmaster. An interesting Ebay item was brought to my attention by psychadelicfur on Toolarmy today. It’s an Ænima vinyl, though unlike the normal one is pressed on yellow vinyl (pic below). The article mentions that it’s a “Special Collectors Edition”. It’s currently going for a relatively cheap price of £39.99. Blair has posted the May Tool Newsletter up on Toolband (not announced in the news – visit the newsletter page directly). It talks about Mormonism and the upcoming Salt Lake City show, but probably won’t do anything but frustrate those of you with little patience for Blair’s writings.
According to Blabbermouth, The Melvins will be touring with the band Down (featuring that douchebag from Pantera) in August and September this year. The article mentions “select U.S. markets” so I’m guessing it won’t be an extensive tour, probably just the larger cities. Dates will be posted once I get them.
King Buzzo from the Melvins has recorded another interview/guitar lesson with MetalKult. As usual it’s a great interview, especially if you dig Buzz’s sense of humour. He also dishes out advice on how to play Houdini tracks Honeybucket and Hooch. Rumour has it on the Melvins BBS that The Melvins could be touring with Down in the US later this year.
