I noticed a post on the Volto! Facebook page about Danny Carey participating in something called Drum Day. Looks like this is an held event in LA on April 8th which serves primarily as a show case for drum equipment. Scheduled for the day is a performance of Danny with Volto, so it doesn’t appear to be a drum clinic as such. Anyway, it’s free by the looks of things,… Read More »Danny Carey at Drum Day
Danny Carey is the drummer for the band Tool, and also plays regularly in Los Angeles as part of Volto! and various other acts at the Baked Potato.
Danny is also considered one of the worlds leading drummers, and regularly appears at the pointy end of many Top Drummers lists. For all articles on Danny Carey, use this category!
On the weekend I read that Danny Carey was going to be playing at some Genesis related show, and then promptly forgot about it. Anyway, it did happen and Danny drummed with the Musical Box (who I’ve never heard of) playing a Genesis song “Can-Utility and the Coastliners” (that I’ve also never heard of). Here’s the video: Interestingly, the singer says Danny told him the new Tool album will be… Read More »Danny Carey and the Musical Box
Word is that Danny Carey will be appearing on the Late Night with Seth Meyers show next week: I must be living under a rock because it was just brought to my attention that DANNY will be the guest drummer on the LATE NIGHT WITH SETH MEYERS SHOW starting on the WEEK of Monday, SEPTEMBER 26. Now that I mention it, does anyone have a house truck for sale? Hopefully… Read More »Danny Carey on Seth Meyers
I noticed the other day on Facebook following one of the San Francisco sows that someone commented Danny Carey was playing with a new cymbal. Well on the Tool Facebook page today (and presumably soon on Toolband) this seems to be confirmed with a photo of him holding a interesting purple cymbal from Paiste: here’s a photo of his NEW SIGNATURE PAISTE CYMBAL, which features, among other sigils, Elizabethan Magus… Read More »Danny’s new signature cymbal
While we sit and wait patiently/impatiently for some kind of Tool news (possibly even tour dates, though that seems to appear more unlikely each passing day), I can update you on a coming Volto! show at the Mint on September 5th. No baked potatoes will be available at this show, however I’m sure the beer will be cold and the music soothing to ones ears. If you’re in Los Angeles… Read More »Volto at The Mint in September
Many of you would be aware that Vic Firth passed away on the 26th of July. Vic was best known as the founder of a company that designs and manufactures drumsticks, including those that Danny Carey uses. Danny is one of their signature artists and his custom drumstick features “a cut-in design at the gripping area for improved comfort and a tapered butt end for improved balance”. I own a… Read More »Danny Carey pays tribute to Vic Firth
Blair released the Tool January Newletter today, despite the fact it’s February. It talks about, and includes a picture of a bug found in a readers Vicarious DVD, and includes a vision, which may or may not mean something. Not sure what to make of it, but the reference to various Toolarmy Ranks and so on could have some meaning. Change coming to the website soon perhaps? There’s also a… Read More »Tool January Newsletter
Blair posted several updates to Toolband/Army today. The first lot where a bunch of pictures from the recent Pigmy Love Circus gig. Some nice work there with several shots take by Danny‘s girlfriend Rynne. Toolarmy members get a close up of Danny in action. Also mentioned is that there is a Volto! gig coming up on Friday the 6th of March at the Knitting Factory in Hollywood. Blair mentions it… Read More »Volto! gig, Pigmy pictures, ‘Busy” band members
This morning I was provided with a three pictures taken from the upcoming update to dannycarey.org. The pics appear to be pretty heavily CGI’d which suggests the site will probably be quite Flash intensive. Regardless, they look quite interesting and I can’t wait to see the end result! No word yet on when the update will become available. For your viewing pleasure…
According to a recent post on Blabbermouth, Meshuggah will be releasing a live DVD later on this year, and will also be recording an album for release in 2010. Danny’s other band, Pigmy Love Circus are playing a gig tonight with bands Sturgeon, Sextapes and Hectors Revenge at the Key Club in Hollywood. Sounds like fun if you can make it!
