Danny Carey pays tribute to Vic Firth

Many of you would be aware that Vic Firth passed away on the 26th of July. Vic was best known as the founder of a company that designs and manufactures drumsticks, including those that Danny Carey uses. Danny is one of their signature artists and his custom drumstick features “a cut-in design at the gripping area for improved comfort and a tapered butt end for improved balance”. I own a… Read More »Danny Carey pays tribute to Vic Firth

Tool January Newsletter

Blair released the Tool January Newletter today, despite the fact it’s February.  It talks about, and includes a picture of a bug found in a readers Vicarious DVD, and includes a vision, which may or may not mean something.  Not sure what to make of it, but the reference to various Toolarmy Ranks and so on could have some meaning.  Change coming to the website soon perhaps? There’s also a… Read More »Tool January Newsletter

Volto! gig, Pigmy pictures, ‘Busy” band members

Blair posted several updates to Toolband/Army today.  The first lot where a bunch of pictures from the recent Pigmy Love Circus gig.  Some nice work there with several shots take by Danny‘s girlfriend Rynne.  Toolarmy members get a close up of Danny in action. Dannycarey.org Preview Pictures

This morning I was provided with a three pictures taken from the upcoming update to dannycarey.org.  The pics appear to be pretty heavily CGI’d which suggests the site will probably be quite Flash intensive.  Regardless, they look quite interesting and I can’t wait to see the end result!  No word yet on when the update will become available. For your viewing pleasure…

Meshuggah Live DVD, Pigmy Love Circus

According to a recent post on Blabbermouth, Meshuggah will be releasing a live DVD later on this year, and will also be recording an album for release in 2010. Danny’s other band, Pigmy Love Circus are playing a gig tonight with bands Sturgeon, Sextapes and Hectors Revenge at the Key Club in Hollywood.  Sounds like fun if you can make it!

Anyone for Golf?

Bellami from Toolarmy found some cool pictures from a recent Paiste Golf Day featuring our favorite Drummer!  Danny looks pretty suave in his golfing duds!  Heaps more pictures here.

Sonor Drum Video from NAMM

Marc writes in to let me know about this video on Drumtube, which shows off the whole range of Sonor drums, including the DC one.  According to the video, the cost of the drum will be “less expensive than originally thought” at €555, about US$727 and AU$1,085.  I’m not sure what expensive means in the world of drums, but that sounds like a fair bit for a single drum to… Read More »Sonor Drum Video from NAMM

Danny at NAMM 2009

Gregrohmer from Toolarmy took the following pictures of Danny at the NAMM 2009 convention.  Includes and extreme close-up of the new signature snare.  Thanks to Kat for the tip!

Pigmy Love Circus Live!

Pigmy Love Circus play a rare live show in February with bands Sextapes (featuring Chris Pitman) and Sturgeon (featuring Kent Brisley), all of who apparently played in a band in Kansas called Ibizabar.  The gig will be held at the Keyclub Hollywood on February 4th.  First 50 through the door get a free Sturgeon CD!
