I think he uses a goldtop Les Paul for that
its definitely not a "Gold-Top".. its some sort of "natural" finished LP.

Re: Tool Vinyl

Oh ok, 500 is just the number I've read most often. It's not a very high number for sure whatever it is. Same thing with Salival, no idea what the actual number is, anyone know? approximately 15,000 copies of "Aenima" were pressed to vinyl .. as far as "Salival"..that's basicall...

Re: Traders Nest

which ones did you attend? Tampa, FL, Winston Salem, NC and Spokane, WA and that's the exact reason to tape.. you never know if anyone else is or not. I'd guess they were taped.. probably have to dig a little bit or just wait until they turn up..there are numerous known Tool tapers in each of those...

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread

I have never had the chance to see APC or Puscifer, so i would be extremely excited for a tour. So we think the album may be off another year because of promotion. Is there a chance they could/would record the album this year and release it, and not go on tour immediately? i mean why not, they dont...

Interesting video. Early Undertow era Tool. show in London where Justin plays bass for Paul on Sober: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kFhOwLKaH0I Sober starts around the 19 minute mark. Pity the recorder is so focused on MJK. that's the "Shepherds Bush" 94' video..that was actually record...

Comes around every once in a while: Maynard s "Sieban" Nice that it is double digits and looks to be in good shape with all its packaging. Keep an eye on it. Also check out this beauty: Tool Army Windbreaker Little high on this BiN, but still pretty sweet. Kinda cool looking and very chea...

Re: Traders Nest

Who cares who taped it and who should get credit who is attaching their name to something. Big deal. I watch the shows on YouTube. Short sighted view. Quality boots are not easy to make, and if you (collective you) piss off the tapers they may decide to not release their shit to the public (this is...

Re: Traders Nest

there's nothing positive about this. people are uploading recordings that they had nothing to do with on an extremely open/public forum (YouTube) knowing full well the band does not like taping to begin with. I can guarantee you that no "RARE" recordings will be uploaded there..and no grea...

Re: Traders Nest

The taping went, well ok I guess. A girl that stood right next to me kept screaming throughout the show. I didn't get my hands on a pod for my zoom so I just held it. The audio levels are too low imo and I'll have to edit that later. Sound guy wasn't the best either as the vocals were drowned in th...

Re: Traders Nest

Just take in a boom box pop in a cassette, and start recording!! but first make sure you listen to the cassette first to ensure you arent recording over important material from the 1980s Some of the best live recordings ever have actually been made using cassette tapes. Its not so much the media..i...

Re: Traders Nest

your main issue at a show will be the high SPLs (sound pressure levels) that will likely overpower the phones built-in "microphone".. it'll probably massively distort the recording. If you're going anyhow.. might as well give it a shot.

open taping good. I'll try to keep this cut and dry. first, if you haven't already join the forum at http://www.taperssection.com that is where all of the wisdom is. secondly, eventually, you are going to want to get a set of "outboard" mics..but that is another issue entirely. That is a ...

Go to dimeadozen.org and search for Tool Greenville. I'm positive that it's uploaded there. It wasn't last time I checked, because I had asked it not be..however.. I know a few children uploaded it elsewhere. The show is and has been freely circulating amongst (even with) the most moderately-seriou...

I don't think it's quite as contrived as you make it out to be. All they're done is recognised a demand and are trying to find a way to meet it and minimise the work they need to do. Unfortunately that means it's take some of the magic out of it, for me at least anyway... not sure "contrived&q...
