Re: 7empest

Such an oldschool Tool song.

After reading Justin saying Adam had one of these riffs since before he (Justin) even joined the band, it just made sense. It's an Undertow song written with Justin. Right down to the lyrical content.

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread

https://reddit.com/r/ToolBand/comments/cy1fzi/you_think_theres_any_truth_to_this/ Nonsense. Far out of the way of being remotely practical. And pretty shitty to start a rumour after the guys have been talking about how difficult writing this album has been, nearly calling it quits at points. Though...

Re: 7empest

For me this song was a real suprise and immediatly reminded me of the songs from Opiate or Undertow. According to Justin... "“There are riffs on the new album that Adam had before I was even in the band,” he offers. “The last track, ‘7empest’ [pronounced Tempest], the main body of the first chunk o...

Re: Fear Inoculum with SPOILERS

A criticism I had after listening to the album 7 or 8 times (without the segues) was I thought it could have used another song or 2. But that has largely abated with the inclusion of the segues. They round it out quite nicely. I don't always like segues, like with Aenima I think they slow down the p...

Re: Fear Inoculum with SPOILERS

Random thoughts after hearing FI about 6 or 7 times straight through: It's a very solid album overall. Perhaps could have used another track or two, something shorter ("shorter" like The Grudge or Vicarious...)? Maybe, for some variety. That might be my biggest criticism. Tempest is a bit over-long....

Re: Fear Inoculum with SPOILERS

Anyone else hear the radio edit of FI yet? Rather hard hitting tune in a truncated format. Missing the soundscapes but it was an interesting listen. I wonder how the edits are coordinated with the band/label? I remember Justin speaking about radio edits a couple of times, from what I recall the ban...

Re: Fear Inoculum with SPOILERS

Fear Inoculum is probably the weakest song on here. It's really good, but I still think lacking a real crescendo in the second half hurts it.

Re: Fear Inoculum with SPOILERS

Going through my second listen, Pneuma is probably the standout. Some of the drumming reminds me of the intro of the live versions of Triad.

Great to hear Invincible properly too.

Re: Fear Inoculum

I bet they know there’s no way to avoid a leak for an album that is this much anticipated. At some point the units will the warehouses and there’s no control after that. It’s a shame it leaked, i bet the guys are pissed , i’m sure it’s costing them a lot. Nah, I doubt they're mad. Getting to within...

Re: Tool - is this their last album?

Most likely, with how long it takes them to do something, FI is their last album. If not, then they might squeeze out one more. I'm counting on a few live albums, or even a dozen or two or three box sets full of live recordings and all sorts of other bonus material that good be in the vault. I would...

For my first listen of Fear Inoculum I will most likely be putting on my Beer Binoculum...

..and headphones, probably streaming it from Deezer since it doesn't look like the regular CD edition will be available until later (and I can't afford the bigass Limited Edition right now)

That was a review?
All I care about is the 2 new song titles.
Pneuma & Mockingbeat?

That paragraph is confusing. How is the title track an "electronic soundscape"?

Re: Fear Inoculum

@Moridin what about the outro ? When Maynard sings “ Uveil now, lift away, i see you runnin’...” while Danny is giving one of his best performaces. I wouldn't call that a crescendo. Again, it's all mid-range stuff, and MJK's delivery is super relaxed. It's quite reigned in, doesn't really open up. ...

Re: Fear Inoculum

But they say lead track? And it’s number 1 in Apple Music. Why don’t you think it’s the first track? The Kerrang review of the song says there's a track before FI, so it can't be the album opener (if true): "Now we have a piece of the puzzle, the album’s sprawling title-track, what does it all mean...

Re: Fear Inoculum

I think my main criticism of FI is the lack of any real crescendo. Several times throughout is seems to be building to something, but instead of breaking out into a crescendo it either just backs off or continues rolling along in the same mid-range. The chorus almost gets there, but it kind of backs...
