Re: TOOL Fall 2023 tour
I too was thrilled with the performance last night (in the grandstands). Tool were a bit of a misfit in the lineup but my experience was they won over a good chunk of the crowd.

Wait a second. It’s the same setlist as last leg?
At least Pearl Jam announces new dates.

Re: New Album Touring (with SPOILERS!)
I was impressed both times now with Ticketmaster process - got a floor tic to the Glendale show this morning. Login 5 minutes before sale > waiting room > auto update to the shopping queue (#1700) > 5 minute wait > grabbed seat. First show though I got the "sorry you've been beaten to that seat...

Good show. Exactly what you expect it to be, for better or worse.

Pneuma is tedious and drags and drags and drags. Let’s move this thing along, my god.

Re: New Album Touring (with SPOILERS!)
And back to rotating Intolerance and Part of Me? Come on. This is basically the same setlist as the summer cycle with a minor re-shuffle and a couple new songs thrown in. I don’t necessarily need more new songs since they’re rather boring but just something DIFFERENT than the last leg. Seeing them n...

Re: The Grudge (WARNING: It Hapenned!!)
Maynard's work is pretty low on my list of criticisms on this album. There's very little of him on it I don't like. No real shortage of catchy hooks and melodies imo. It's just he sings different, which is always going to rub some up the wrong way. What he does he does well, there’s just not enough...

Re: The Grudge (WARNING: It Hapenned!!)
I don’t agree that this record sounds like Tool. Stylistically, the songs are missing vocals, direction, momentum, punch, climax, and release. That’s not Tool. I’ve gone back to it several times, but while it sounds good with plenty of supposed “complexities,” it’s not resonating. No songs here hol...

Check Discogs. I just got a sealed variant I cd from a TX record dealer for $100. Less than ideal, but eBay is going around $200. Figure I’ll stay in this weekend and call it a wash.

Re: Fear Inoculum with SPOILERS
I’m starting to tune out about halfway through each song. They’re too long. Need more Maynard, tighter direction, less jammy. The songs are missing that climactic release of tension. They set a theme, tease, and then gradually unwind and meander which can be creative in one sense, boring in another...

Re: Fear Inoculum with SPOILERS
Anyone else hear the radio edit of FI yet? Rather hard hitting tune in a truncated format. Missing the soundscapes but it was an interesting listen. I wonder how the edits are coordinated with the band/label? I remember Justin speaking about radio edits a couple of times, from what I recall the ban...

I’m really feeling the build up in the second act of CV. Those guitars are like machetes cutting thru. And MJK’s restrained snarl creates a wonderful tension.

Re: Fear Inoculum with SPOILERS
This thing is so dense that it’ll need to be unpacked for a long time coming. A good thing. On the flipside, these songs are just too long and the instrumentals start to bleed together. It’s refreshing when Tempest starts not because it’s angry Tool again, but because it’s just different.

Re: Fear Inoculum with SPOILERS
The “autotune” to start the third act of Invincible resonates with me the same as the Grudge scream. I’m dumb and not sure how else to describe it. Beautiful, harrowing, impactful. I say that to say the album is reflective, immersive, introspective, and woven. Emotional yet subtle and layered. I’ll ...
