Re: Tool - Nothin But Love

After listening near constantly for the last month, I really love how, if you go back to some of their live shows, you can totally hear some of the guitar riffs from the new songs in those "extended"/"enhanced" versions of older songs. I know people speculated that those guitar ...

Re: My Tool Top 10

A tough task. In order of release:

1) 46&2
2) Pushit
3) Third Eye
4) The Grudge
5) The Patient
6) Lateralus
7) D/R/T
8) Jambi
9) Intension
10) Descending

I feel like at any given moment 10k Days, Rosetta Stoned, Aenema and Flood slip in there but I'm pretty happy with the above.

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread

makes sense, so he can do those Jambi/Descending distorted wah snarls without having to foot stomp two pedals at once

Re: New Album Touring

I don't see CV happening for all of the reasons mentioned above. It wouldn't be especially easy with a looper either, especially considering Adam's lack of regular use of one (as far as any of us can tell)

Re: New Album Touring

I think we are getting an undertow song instead of culling voices and another 10k days song instead of tempest

Re: New Album Touring

I'd like to see some setlist speculation on here. Really curious which "classics" are gonna make the cut and whether we get any deep cuts over and above the Part of Me/Intolerance situation we have atm.

Re: Culling Voices

I'm of two minds on this track. With respect to my actual sensibilities it ranks pretty low for me. Similarly to Hellboy, not only is it one of my least favourite tracks on the record but I also can't say I like it more than a vast majority of the catalogue. That being said, I think Boldizar hits th...

Re: Pneuma

There is no guitar in that section until the synth starts to trail off so I would assume Adam. Additionally, with all due respect to the dude, it sounds like just the sort of simple synth riff that he could come up with.

Re: Descending

at some point everything and anything was rumored tbh - that being said I never recall any substantiated rumors to that effect unless you count overzealous folks reading way too much into the whole "A/Descending" setlist name

Re: Culling Voices

I love the first 2/3rds of this song. The melodic ballad stuff is great and mostly unique for Tool. I still find the ending pretty bland though. I think if they'd just made it a ballad, or perhaps a more Intension style ending it would have turned out as a better song this here is the correct take

Re: 7empest

In the opposite boat - could use without what sounds to me like a watered down Opiate/Undertow track (esp the vocals), whereas the last two thirds really start to go places that sound like a proper update of those earlier sounds. To each their own. Was initially my least favourite track but is growi...

Re: The Grudge (WARNING: It's HAPPENNING!!!)

@children Yea, there is a ton of decay on it and the ringing sounds dissonant. Definitely the snare. He's never had that sound before. Maybe they just mix out the decay normally and this is more natural. The actual crack and head sound great and pitched to the song, its just the resonance. fwiw I h...

Re: Fear Inoculum with SPOILERS

A lot of people saying this is too clean sounding but I’m digging how raw it sounds. Either way I love the way this song is composed and layered. it’s easily top 5 for sure. I'm with you on this...have read lots of comments about it sounding "digital" or "processed" which maybe ...

Re: Fear Inoculum with SPOILERS

I had initially posted this in a reddit thread. Still think this is mostly right but I am now thinking that Culling Voices probably won't get all that much rotation (but that's my personal bias coming through) Given the way they have previously done things and the sheer length of the new songs, my r...

Re: Fear Inoculum

Hey y'all - used to be a regular poster in the lead-up/aftermath to the 10k days release and have been regularly lurking since. Nice to be officially back.

Anyone feel like what used to be called Bouncy Arab became the title track?
