Re: New Album Touring (with SPOILERS!)
The San Diego show tonight was fantastic! Perfect mix and all band members sounded great and on point. Maynard's vocals were loud and clear. I don't think they made any mistakes whatsoever, at least none that I could obviously notice. Very tight performance. Fear Inoculum (the song) sounds a LOT hea...

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread
Nice! Europe again at both a combination of festivals and their own shows would be sweet. Looks like 2020 is going to a big year for the band... just hope the win a Grammy or two

Re: First Fear Inoculum listen approach?
Haha, all good!
Back to 6ucces' first post though, Fear Inoculum does sound amazing when you blast it on a good stereo system.
Looking forward to this Friday night in San Diego... I'm sure it will be loud enough.

Fuck, I keep forgetting this is a Christian board...

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread
If TOOL and Taylor Swift did a song together it would get a lot of attention for both artists; I'm still surprised Metallica and Lady Gaga did that Moth Into Flame performance. If it's about ratings and brevity throughout the broadcast though, combining artists for one song is at least efficient. TO...

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread
I'd be pretty surprised if they played at the Grammys, but wouldn't be a huge surprise if the gap was there so they could claim the award (should they get it). Yeah I assumed that gap was left just for them to collect the award/s in person if they won BUT it would be really cool if they finally agr...

Here's a wrinkle for you: Wednesday, January 22: TOOL play in Dallas Sunday, January 26: Grammy Awards in Los Angeles (Staples Center) Tuesday, January 28: TOOL play in Atlanta 7empest has been nominated for 'Best Metal Performance' and TOOL aren't playing any shows in between their Dallas and Atlan...

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread
Junior, if possible, please encourage the band to start playing 7empest somewhere in their sets on this early part of the tour. That would be awesome! Thanks :) That’s that really long one after the drum thingy on the album, right? Two options to consider: 1. Start the live show with 7empest and yo...

Re: New Album Touring (with SPOILERS!)
Flood is the first song I ever saw TOOL play live... back in the 2002 Lateralus tour days, they would occasionally open shows with Flood and go straight into The Grudge. It was a pretty intense 10 to 15 minute opening of a show

Re: New Album Touring (with SPOILERS!)
I think 7empest will be making its debut at the Staples Center on Sunday night at their first LA show. Back in 2006, the band played new material from April through August but didn't debut Wings For Marie/10,000 Days until September. If they like debuting songs at Staples Center then we are in for a...

Re: New Album Touring (with SPOILERS!)
Back in 2006 at Coachella (first show) they didn't play Rosetta Stoned at all but then opened with it two nights later in Seattle. If they open their show in Denver on Tuesday night with 7empest it will be pretty special. I'd love to be on the floor when they come out on stage and just start their s...

Re: New Album Touring (with SPOILERS!)
I am pretty excited to see them replace one or two of those songs with Descending and 7empest. Today's show is probably the first since Lateralus came out that they did NOT play Schism. I swear I have seen that song at every show I've seen since 2001 and I cannot think of a show where they haven't p...

Re: My Tool Top 10
I'm very keen to see what TOOL play presumably as their standard set for this upcoming tour. If they do the usual 10 or 11 songs, I reckon we are about to get the following in some order:
Aenema
Fear Inoculum
Jambi
Invincible
Schism
Descending
46 & 2
7empest
-----
CCTrip
Pneuma
Stinkfist

Re: My Tool Top 10
Hmm, tough task. Try to think of this as being the only 10 TOOL songs you are allowed to listen to for the rest of your life. What has to be included? Anything that's borderline should be dismissed. I have to include Third Eye here; if i went the next 50 years without hearing it again I'd be one gru...

Re: Pneuma
Okay, let's narrow it down then. I know I cut out Eulogy to make it 11 but I couldn't definitively remove one more. I think the following need to be in any top ten epic/long TOOL playlist (i.e. songs over 8 minutes): Lateralus Third Eye Pneuma After that, it's getting pretty tough to omit one. I thi...

Re: Pneuma
Hmm, fair points. However, I limited my list to 12 songs here and had to exclude a few nice tracks I like such as Right In Two and No Quarter. Allow me to clarify though. 1) I agree with you regarding Parabol/a. I prefer it when they play the whole thing live but I know what you mean when Parabola i...

Re: Pneuma
Just wondering where this song sits in your 'Top 5' o 'Top 10' favourite TOOL songs... It might not be your personal favourite as we all have varying tastes, but is it fair to say this is one of TOOL's best songs ever? It's definitely one of their best longer tracks i.e. over 8 minutes. The album ha...

Re: 7empest
After multiple listens I am breaking this epic song down into 4 parts: The first 5:35 - heavy, fast, riffs, grooves and angry MJK vocals/lyrics. 5:35 - 9:35 - Adam Jones taking the spotlight while Danny & Justin maintain a solid rhythm. 9:35 - 11:45 - MJK comes back and the song builds to a grea...

Re: Litanie contre la peur
This is a nice segue between, arguably, two of TOOL's best written songs in Pneuma and Invincible...
It creates a little separation between two epic tracks. Cool eerie/mysterious vibe.

Re: Pneuma
This is almost the quintessential TOOL song... it really is just about perfect. Flows so nicely, simple riff over and over, spaced out, build ups, beautiful lyrics and vocals and the 9:34 mark after the guitar part is one of the best collective TOOL moments in their whole career catalog. I cannot cr...
