Re: Random Tool Social Media thread

I have a couple of theories on the "move out of the Loft". Just theories. I haven't asked anyone about this, or been told anything. . The Loft is in Hollywood. It's exact location has become less of a secret over the years, and it often becomes a hangout for any number of tertiary people....

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread

Compared to everything else the last 11 years them saying "May Jay is writing lyrics" is a huge bombshell. Of course it doesn't mean anything is imminent but I'm not gonna give anyone shit for getting excited. This is a Tool FAN forum you Debbie downers. I don't see anyone speaking in a n...

Re: Mastodon

Well, I'm starting t lose a bit of interest in this album now....not sure where to start with this track :? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mdxZ4YXFcpQ Agreed. This is terrible. This is not Mastodon. This is pop rock and bores me to tears. I get that Mastodon has long since moved away from their ea...

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread

None of the recent updates hold any weight for me. While I have long since let go of any Tool hate, they have still lost a ton of credibility in my eyes. Now when I say that I am not talking about their talent as musicians or their live shows. They obviously take pride in what they do and give their...

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread

Studio time for 2017 would be the right path if I was choosing my own adventure. I've also run out of sarcasm at this point. Not that far down the path, but on the path at least. ^ RIP 2017 release Oh well new APC hopefully...New album from Billy 2017 would be quality Oh and slightly off topic but ...

Re: A Perfect Circle Tour 2017

Thanks M0g, but we all worked this out weeks ago! I would say though that Billy has talked up a new Ashes Divide and APC album almost as long as Tool have procrastinated with their latest, so I'd say it's no sure thing. Sorry mang I am not around as often so I haven't been up to date on all the lat...

Tool is still a long way off to completing a new album. Never thought we would see a new APC album before a new Tool album. A bit of a bummer but new AP...

Long time no chat. Bummer things aren't going well in the Tool camp but it would be nice to see APC again and even better to hear some new material from them. Agreed as well on all accounts regarding either APC/NIN or APC/Mastodon. Sound Garden is meh. Yo, Moggie. Soundgarden can be hit or miss, bu...

Re: What are you listening to?

Interesting year in music. Some general thoughts... The new Meshuggah was terribly disappointing. They really need to go back to their normal machine like perfection when it comes to their recording approach. The new album simply doesn't sound good. Way too muddy not to mention some of the execution...

Cool, an AAL recording that doesn't sound like balls. Looking forward to the full album. Every AAL album has been quality. Continually trying to justify Tool taking 10+ years to complete a new album must be having an impact on your higher cognitive functions. M0gs response is both predictable and l...

@Zig - Yeah I watched those interviews as well all good stuff. I had no idea the extent of his back injury and it makes me appreciate his talent even more the way he has been able to maintain such a high level while trying to fully recuperate. Good info in this podcast as well [youtube]https://www.y...

Re: Opeth

That was pretty bland Agreed. Opeth have shown they can do slower songs very well in the past. Damnation is a masterpiece. This song, while well constructed, is as you said, quite bland. Some of the guitar work towards the end was interesting but overall the song really doesn't go anywhere. I had h...

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread

I really enjoyed the String theory interview with Justin. Rarely great to hear Justin talk at depth about his approach to playing bass and song writing. It looks like they have all found a balanced and happy place in their lives and that will likely result in one superb album when it is finished. I ...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xtO3VCu5wv4 Superb. After watching a recent interview with Tomas Haake I was concerned with the change in direction in terms of recording. While Tomas said he thought Obzen and Koloss were great albums, he thought they sounded a bit too perfect. I certainly understan...

Re: Opeth

That organ intro is pretty corny, but the song itself is pretty good. At first listen the intro seemed a bit off but subsequent listens it has grown on me, it fits the song and sets the mood. Overall I really dig this song. Again like Pale Communion it feels old yet new. It takes some of the best e...
