Re: Top Ten Albums Of All Time . . .

There is a few I have left out that I wanted to squeeze in, particularly Opeth Heritage which I love and Bill Hicks Rant in E Minor (albeit not a musical album) it is one of my favourites.... 1. Aenima - tough to differentiate between TOOL albums because I have a lot of songs that resonate very deep...

Re: Beer/Ale/Lager/Cider Thread

This might sound nuts, but this is a cultural thing for me. Eroding the culture of having a sloppy cheap beer next to a grizzled old dude at the end of a rough day NO MATTER WHERE YOU WORK is a national icon for most of the Western world. I am a lover of beers and an unashamed lover of my local mic...

Re: What are you listening to?

I enjoy Radiohead, and whilst I don't think OK Computer is their best album I still like listening to it, my ears aren't overly precious. I think Thom Yorke achieves a unique tonal register that draws in the listener, in the same way that most obsess over MJK (albeit vastly different). Radiohead hav...

Re: What are you listening to?

I was pretty stoked the other day my kids had the day off school because it was a show day public holiday. I got home from work (no such luck) and my eldest (~12) had cleaned up the pool room (where his PC is etc) and said he had listened to the whole of the Pink Floyd discography and really loved i...

Re: Introductions Thread - Who are you & What the Hell dya w

Cheers guys, I hope I can contribute to this forum in some way... I am interested to find my tastes running to heavier material as I am exposed to more of it - I can even enjoy a growly vocal now). I am not too dissimilar, previously I did not enjoy music with growling lyrics, though I loved the pro...

Cusp of eternity is fucking awesome.... Opeth are among the elite bands on this planet.... The (much maligned) heritage tour a couple of years ago (at the Tivoli) was among the best shows I have ever seen....

Re: Introductions Thread - Who are you & What the Hell dya w

I have made a couple of posts now and after a not so auspicious start, I thought I would spark up this thread and introduce myself a little better. I am 37 years old and live in the Gold Coast Hinterland, married and have 3 (now 2) kids. Last year my number 2 boy passed away after a year long battle...

The Boss wrote: I never took that song quasi-literally
Neither have I, but my wife is unlikely to dig past the surface, which is why it amused me so much when I went through the lyrics with her....

Actually I think I miss read what you wrote.....

Re: Reactions To Tool From Non Tool Fans

it's sad that two of the biggest Tool fans I've ever known will never get to hear it. I hear you mate, I will be in a similar situation... As far as non TOOL fans my wife came home after driving my car and said I really like that Tool song that was playing.... Turned out to be Stinkfist, and I said...

Re: Beer/Ale/Lager/Cider Thread

Not really. I started drinking as quickly as possible after work on a Friday night so the booze would hit quicker - so then, I could slow down for the rest of the night, and not need to drink so much. :( I do exactly the same thing, normally I have had a 6-pack of Coopers by 7 pm - then slow down t...

Re: Beer/Ale/Lager/Cider Thread

I live about a 30 minute walk (3-4 km's) from a craft brewery (http://www.fortitudebrewing.com.au) their beers are awesome, expensive ($7 a schooner), but really nice for a change. Good thing is after a session, I get to walk home through the rainforest (perhaps have a smoke on the way), it is norma...

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread

Pretty much every morning while I have brekky I google 'New Tool Album' (filtered for most recent results), in some habitual, pathetic vain hope that the new album appears out of nowhere, despite knowing better. Generally however, the newest results bring me here or to the 'Toolband site' if BMB has...

Re: Tool - Nothin But Love

My number 2 son passed away from cancer last year he was almost 9... Lateralus, particularly Parabol/Parabola are very soothing songs when I get down... "All this pain is an illusion"... That album is awesome... Didn't mean it as a downer, just one of the many reasons why Lateralus is on i...

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread

Good evening. I have read this forum for a long, long time, and this is my first post. I think the latest RS article is a ruse. I think TOOL are the "Boy who cried Wolf", it is difficult to take them seriously with anything they release publicly, given their history... They may well have h...
