Re: Random Tool Social Media thread

Yeah but I was the one who brought up 764 seconds in my posts and now YOU are using the number I introduced to confirm your bias here. Saying 764 is important because 7 + 6 + 4 = 17 is a classic example of confirmation bias; you are looking for things to fit your prior beliefs. There is no way the b...

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread

Okay, I get all of that, but I still think the 12 + 44 = 56 thing is too much of a stretch or jump here. I don't think the band would deliberately make the track run to 12 mins 44 seconds just so they could have 12 + 44 = 56 and think it was cool. In fact, even if you are correct and they deliberate...

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread

Thanks for taking the time and effort to respond constructively to the issues I raised in my post. From a different perspective, their music and everything they do is a form of ART so you can interpret it however you like etc. I just think you are stretching too far with some of the references you h...

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread

ToolArchive, I appreciate that you put a LOT of effort into creating that video but it's bordering on delusional if you believe the band would deliberately include all of the stuff you have mentioned. Let me point out a few issues: 1) At one of the VIP sessions Adam Jones did back in 2013, a fan ask...

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread

All the pi shit he goes on about at the 5 minute mark is bullshit. He even says 22/8 and then has 22/7 just after. During every bar of 22, Adam and Justin play 16 notes each. Pi being the 16th letter of the alphabet? Who fucking cares. There is no way a band would deliberately incorporate that into ...

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread

"7 can be divisioned into 3 and 4" So, firstly, I'm not sure 'divisioned' is even a word, I think he means divided or partitioned. So he's basically saying that "7 equals 3 plus 4" which, as great as TOOL are, I don't think they are capable of making this sort of complex referenc...

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread

Thanks Junior!
I was kinda expacting 7empest to be your answer and I was there when they debuted in Sydney. It does seem tough to play live.
Thanks for the update.
Cheers

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread

I think Busty is talking about the song Lateralus here Junior, possibly in a provocative manner.

From what you've seen though, which song do you reckon was the hardest for the band to put together?

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread

I hope this downtime allows them to build upon all the riffs and jams they didn't end up using for Fear Inoculum. Take the best stuff they were working on and add in all the new stuff they might be able to create if they aren't touring right now. However, I'm not expecting a new album until at least...

God Damnit! You guys (Aussies) got 7empest! I'm jealous and happy for you guys at the same time! Anyone on this forum going to see them in Salt lake City? I've seen them 3 times since FI has come out and I have not been able to see Decsending or 7empest. I'm thinking of going and at the same time i...

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread

Third Eye is a great opening song. Flood is good too. Flood into The Grudge back in the Lateralus tour days 2001/2002 was awesome. Fear Inoculum is a solid opening song on this tour though; I love it.

Finishing a show with Aenema has all 4 band members going hard right to the end.

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread

Back in 2010 they closed with Lateralus into Aenema and I reckon it's a great way to finish their shows. The gig below is a good example. I think Stinkfist is better earlier in the night as it really gets the crowd going. Schism and Jambi are better in the middle somewhere. But Lateralus and Aenema ...

Re: New Album Touring (with SPOILERS!)

Maynard left out this entire passage that normally appears at the 9:40 mark: Disputing intentions invites devastation A tempest must be true to its nature A tempest must be just that A tempest must be just that A tempest must be just that A tempest must be just that A tempest must be just that A tem...

Re: New Album Touring (with SPOILERS!)

Maynard also said "You know it's raining really hard outside... Maybe we had something to do with that" or words to that effect before finishing with Stinkfist. The "Can we try that one more time" line was a nice touch at the end of 7empest. I know there's no footage of it yet bu...

Re: New Album Touring (with SPOILERS!)

Busty, the will play it or try it again 2nd night in Melbourne and 2nd night in Auckland. Brisbane is only getting one show so they'll pull out the big guns (Descending) and save 7empest for the good ol' 2nd night shows where possible, especially in this early stage of playing it live... it's still ...

Re: New Album Touring (with SPOILERS!)

While it was great to get the live debut of 7empest, it wasn't exactly their finest performance. Adam appeared to get lost about 2 minutes into his solo and Maynard didn't come back in to sing at the 10 minute mark. His lines "Disputing intentions invites devastation. A tempest must be true to ...

Re: New Album Touring (with SPOILERS!)

There's usually another merch stand inside the main entrance at Qudos Bank Arena. The lines outside for the merch were incredibly long so I'd recommend going into the venue earlier if you can and hitting up the other merch stand. Alex Grey poster is nice but it feels too familiar; I'm more of a fan ...

Re: New Album Touring (with SPOILERS!)

We essentially got 14 songs last night; it was awesome. So many times I've seen the band do 10, 11 or 12 songs and walked away thinking "That was great but they could have played _____ " etc. Didn't feel like that last night. A comprehensive display. That was one of the best shows I've see...

Re: New Album Touring (with SPOILERS!)

So that Sydney show tonight was pretty epic; longest TOOL show I've seen. Band came on stage at 8:45pm and finished at 11:10pm. We got the regualr FI tour setlist including Descending but also The Pot and Part Of Me. The band sounded very tight and Maynard appeared to be in a good mood. Danny also d...

Re: New Album Touring (with SPOILERS!)

Two weekends ago our local cricket club had to cancel games because it was too hot ("extreme heat"), last weekend the games were rained out (wettest Sydney weekend since 1998) and this weekend games are back on... but for some reason parts of the club have no power. That's a nice snapshot ...
