New Album Touring (with SPOILERS!)

Guesses on what any tours following the new album will feature, be it visually or song wise.

I'm calling at least one major chunk/leg of the tour that features 3D visuals. Kraftwerk has proven that it's a viable touring option, and I would not be shocked at all to see them tackle this.

I think that they will use something from the new album's artwork, if that makes any sense. 3D is possible yes. Followup question: How long will they tour and will they tour around the world?

I just cant see them touring more then a few months at a time ever again. Tour for 2-3 months take 3-4 off, rinse, repeat.

They'll be too old to go on tour by the time the new album drops.

Why does this thread exist? There is no new album on the near horizon. Why bother discussing the tour of an album that has no details yet?

I will possibly require a well airconditioned arena with padded seats.

Apparently there's a serious meteor shower around the 23rd of this month. Something insane like 100 per minute.

Not sure how accurate that is. Just thought I'd mention it.

Id like to hear more about it! If I wasn't an engineer id be an astronomer. I love space. Any idea where it will be visible from?

ITs going to be the most visible in the Northern Central US. I'm going to be at a music festival in central IL this night... I have a feeling its going to be pretty awesome to look at, especially if they can be seen during the shows.

I think the fact if/when the new album comes around MJK and Adam will both have babies will effect the touring and frequently.

I'd bet more on the big festivals for 2015 and one month max of touring at a time without a break. They've shown they will tour B grade North American markets recently. Oz/Asia might have to wait a while. Europe is overdue.

Also probably no touring in Sept/October due to the grape harvest.

North American Festivals, big North American markets for a month. Then break and do a Europe tour for festival season there.

You're dreaming, the fly in fly out tours they do here take basically a fortnight and make a huge profit.

^Agreed.

I honestly don't think their new kids will affect any touring. Adam's kid was born late last year (early this year?) and they still toured. May Jay said years ago they weren't doing the monster worldwide tours anymore.

A month or two at a time is fine anyway. Their new album, whenever it comes out, won't live or die depending on where/how long they tour.

I still think there's plenty of scope for a couple of multi-month tours per year - one in the US and then one in Europe. I'm sure Tool will slow down the touring on the next round, so we might just have to patient while we wait for them to schedule a tour to our continent.

Presuming there's an album released next year, I'd say a BDO or Soundwave tour in summer of 2016 is reasonably likely.

I think I'm going to head down to Australia when that happens.

I'd never go to a festival to see Tool (unless Portishead are an exclusive or something)

My enjoyment of festivals has consistantly dwindled with my advancing age. I use to love them, but now it's just a huge hassle for little payoff - shorter sets, logistical nightmares to see the bands you like, drunk fucks with BO and bad attitudes everywhere.

Get off my lawn!!!

I thought that they did headlining shows on the side when they went last time? I can't stand festivals either.

No one wants to see their favorite band at a festival regardless of their age. But the reality of the music industry is that bands like Tool are big draw cards, so its almost inevitable they will play more in the future.
