So I think it's alright. Certainly better than the tracks they've played live recently (and By & Down). Some of the lyrics I really didn't like - did he sing "the newbie attitude"?

Ok so after one listen it already blows away anything they've released post 13th Step except for the song co-written by Trent who's name escapes me and I'm too lazy to google right now.

So that's good. Whether it's old school APC good or not will depend on the test of repeated listens.

And yes I think he says "newbie attitude", though I think it may also be "new being attitude"?

I reckon it's better than Passive.

It is a step in the right direction though.

That’s the one. I don’t know about that yet I really like Passive.

I like it - but I'm not sure if it really surpasses 'by and down'. Having seen 'feathers' live in Vegas, its certainly a step up from that! Hmmm always hard with only a couple of listens...great to hear something new tho!

It stands out over anything I've heard since 13th step but i don't have an overly high opinion on everything released since then so is at least a solid step in the right direction.

It felt more 'APC' than the new songs they've played live recently. Those had more of a Puscifer vibe. After one listen I will say it felt disjointed, really broken down into separate parts that didn't seem to flow into one another well. Could feel different with additional listens.

The new Beatitudes. From the Gospels. Like, “Blessed are the meek for they shall inherit the earth.”

Wikipedia wrote:The Beatitudes are eight blessings recounted in the Sermon on the Mount in the Gospel of Matthew. Each is a proverb-like proclamation, without narrative, "cryptic, precise, and full of meaning. Each one includes a topic that forms a major biblical theme".

I love mer des noms and the 13th step . I remeber liking half of the songs on both albums during my first listen and the rest grew on me and i liked them even more.

After 3 listens i didn’t like the doomed ,hopefully it will grow on me as countless of songs have during the years. As for the lyrics i don’t think they will grow on me but if i eventually like the music then i won’t mind the lyrics.

I hope i like the album and really hope the lyrics aren’t politics related.all other artists are writing trump songs and its boring.

Liking the new song. Sounds different, but that is expected: Emotive was different than 13th Step, and 13th Step was different than Mer De Noms. Anyway I am looking forward what is next with APC. Looking forward to seeing new song at Aftershock.

And, as for the song being political, sure...I can accept that as one interpretation. But to categorically define and dismiss it as a "political" song is ridiculous.

If anything, the song is simply a criticism of a belief system: something Maynard's brought to A Perfect Circle from the beginning.

Okay. Go ahead, kick the soap box out from beneath my feet.

I find the complaints that it's too political are bizarre, and smacks of white males desperate to get offended.

Beatitude is a legit word btw, so maybe it's not "newbie attitude":
beatitude
bɪˈatɪtjuːd/Submit
noun
supreme blessedness.
"the expression of beatitude the religious sometimes adopt"
synonyms: blessedness, benediction, grace; More
the blessings listed by Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount (Matt. 5:3–11).
plural noun: Beatitudes; plural noun: the Beatitudes
a title given to patriarchs in the Orthodox Church.
noun: His Beatitude; noun: Your Beatitude

Sounds like Puscifer. A Perfect Puscifer.

Opening verse reminds me a little of passenger. I kinda dig it, reckon it will sound pretty killer live too

I only really felt this way about the ending.

I think it's a good song and really like the lyrics. It's very topical. The worst of humanity shall inherit the earth and the best are doomed, on their own. It's kind of cynical in a sense, but I feel it's more of a motivational sentiment. I can't wait to see them live. I've seen Tool 8 times, but this will be my first APC show.
