They played Culling and didn't drop The Patient last night. Just played an extra song. That's a good sign 👍

The omission of RIT last night deflated me. I’m sure San Diego will get it tonight. Oh well, we don’t get to pick the set list and that’s what I get for anticipating/being optimistic
3.1.97 - 7.11.97 - 7.3.98 - 8.15.01 - 11.24.02 - 4.30.06 - 9.7.06 - 9.8.06 - 7.14.07 - 12.10.07 - 12.14.07 - 8.22.09 - 7.18.10 - 7.19.10 - 3.12.14 - 3.16.14 - 10.31.15 - 1.9.16 - 6.17.17 - 10.20.19 - 10.21.19 - 1.18.22

Anaheim show last night (1/18/2022).

This was my 15th Tool show, and it was definitely in the top 5 Tool shows I've ever been too. The guys seemed to be having a lot of fun, they sounded great, and the overall vibe just felt really positive. Honestly couldn't have asked for a better experience.
► Show Spoiler
The fact that the guys and their crew put these shows on night after night is truly impressive. Feel incredibly lucky to have been able to get to so many shows over the years, and last night was something special.

Bonus round: Meeting up with Markuspoop, AZBay, and The Chill once again. Always good to see you guys.
So Long, and Thanks for All the Tool.

great recap Norm, stoked for all you lot getting to these shows and hearing how much theyre killing.. Fucking jealous but mostly stoked for yaz.

Had a recommendation pop up on youtube at work this morning. Full audio of San Fran show. Currently up to Ri2. Not a bad quality recording at all. Awesome to hear May Jay not skimping on the chorus section in Pushit like he was doing in 2012,sounds so much better now than it did then.

^I remember reading the reviews from their 2020 shows in Australia from you and others here, and being envious of the alternating nights with Descending and 7empest. Felt the same way you do right now. :)

If I remember correctly there were plans for shows in Sacramento and San Francisco in June of 2020. I was thinking about going to those shows, hoping to finally hear Descending and 7empest. So it goes...

I hope everything stays on track this time around and they get to finish out this tour in the US and Europe, and that it doesn't take too long for them to get back to you guys.
So Long, and Thanks for All the Tool.

We Aussies would absolutely love it if the band swung by for a full Australia & New Zealand tour sometime later this year like October or November etc.

Any such tours given their popularity here these days would essentially be an 8 or 9 show tour, or at least 6 or 7 shows with Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane, Sydney (x2), Melbourne (x2) and Auckland (x2) up for grabs. They came here in 2007, 2011 and 2013 after the release of 10,000 Days in 2006 so we will see what happens.

It is a LONG way to travel and move all their gear around, especially Perth as it is one of the most isolated capital cities in the world distance-wise (look it up on Google Maps if you've got nothing else to do; always a fun Geography lesson!). But those first Sydney, Melbourne and Auckland shows always sell out in record time, hence the 2nd shows in each city. This happened in 2013 and 2020 so I'm sure it'll happen again next time they are here, particularly given the fine form they are in now and the prevalence of YouTube to share the quality of their performances.

Fingers crossed we see them again soon... until then though, I'll be hitting them up in Phoenix this Friday night! Let's go boys! 😎🏆🙏👍

Side question re: San Diego.
Does anyone know how many times Tool have played Viejas/Cox Arena in San Diego?
A couple of us who’ve been on the crew for a while reckon it might be their most played venue (not counting some of the early club days).
I know for San Diego they’ve also played SD Sports Arena at least once, the SDSU Outdoor Theatre (next door to Cox Arena), the RIMAC gym, “Street Scene”, and Soma in my time.

Edit: forgot Valley View Casino

I know of two additional shows in 2007, May 2nd and May 3rd. I was at the first of those.

Looks like there may have been two earlier shows as well:
November 21, 2002
October 31, 2001

That would bring the total to 10.

Yes, 10 is correct!

I misread it as Viejas Arena only; I didn't know it used to be called Cox Arena. So there you go: 10

2007 x 2

2016 x 2

Just Phoenix tomorrow night but the Suns are playing Saturday night so I'm going to that as well.

I'm kinda praying the band pull out 7empest tomorrow night! It's not everyone's favourite song but I absolutely LOVE it so I'm hoping they start playing it again! 😀

It will be interesting to see how the setlist changes when 7empest is brought back. Tomorrow night in Phoenix would be a great start though for sure.

Definitely looking forward to the day when I get to hear it live as well.

Here's to future shows. \m/

We were guessing it was somewhere around 10, though one person seems to remember a 3-nighter, or at least 2 and a return for 1 more on the same tour. It sounds familiar, but I can't quite recall. Maybe one of those 2's had a hold for a 3rd that never materialized, or we're just remembering 2020 when we rehearsed there for a few days before the first show.

^ No no, in 2020 you guys had THREE nights in a row booked at Viejas Arena but you cancelled the 3rd show!

You played FRIDAY, January 10 and SUNDAY, January 12. You had MONDAY, January 13 lined up as well BUT you cancelled it & scheduled a show up at the SAP Center for TUESDAY, January 14 instead.

I was kinda pissed at first because I had tickets to ALL THREE of your San Diego shows... but then I saw Danny coming out of a bar on the Sunday afternoon just after the Chiefs had knocked someone off (Houston) to get through to AFC Championship game. Danny was wearing a bright red Chiefs jersey and was buzzing so I was like "I'll let the cancellation pass... good for him!" 😁

Chiefs won the Super Bowl a few weeks later so the universe got it right perhaps. I'm cool with that. 👍

P.S. The Chet Zar poster for that San Jose show was amazing too!
