I thought the ones done by Adam's wife were pretty good. A nice change from Adam's usual style (which to be honest, is getting a little stale).

I'd like to see them working with more artists on these, but then again, from a sales point of view, they know that work by Adam is always going to sell better.

Not true IMO. EMEK (especially this guy), Jermaine Rogers, and Todd Slater just to name a few consistently sell for much higher amounts on the aftermarket.

Aftermarket perhaps, but Tool are in the market of selling posters at gigs. That being the case, I'd expect poster by AJ would outsell most other posters.

I think the real driving force is contract cost.

Big names charge big money.

Adam did the artwork for free then takes his default file saved in MSPaint, changes a few things and BAM! "new" print.

I've spent most of my time collecting the prints from the real 100% rock print artists. They will hold their "value" better in the future.

Normally the artist are compensated by getting to sell their copies of the posters. Most of the artist you mention will have a regular edition and at least one variant edition that they can sell. For a long time, the promoters were the ones having the posters made. The promoters wanted the posters to advertise the show. Most of the time the deal was the artist paid all costs and provided the promoter with a certain number of posters-the promoters got free advertising & artist got to sell their copies. The bands may have gotten a few copies for themselves from the promoter or artist, but they typically weren't for sale at the shows. It's been a fairly recent trend that the bands are commissioning venue specific posters to sell on tour. Tool started doing it when they had Print Mafia & Hatch create posters for shows back in 2007. Adam has taken this on since and done most of them along with his wife and Justin. No doubt it's a big undertaking for one person to create a different poster for each night of a tour.

yeah my Cedar Park 2010 fit in a standard "craft store" frame. Craft store frames around my area are typically at least 40% off (so you feel like you are getting a deal).
