Sylosis are a good metal band, and their last album was great. The new album sounds just as good if this is anything to go by:

Not too shabby. I think I'll give their latest album a spin sometime. Thanks for the heads-up.

New Primus album Primus & The Chocolate Factory is streaming here:

Did anyone hear of any decent bootlegs of the Primus/Danny shows?

TBH, this is pretty indulgent of Les. Not very satisfying, and waaaaaaaaay below the bar set by Green Naugahyde.

Nope, but I'd like to hear one (or more).

He's been around long enough a bit of indulgence is allowed I imagine. I haven't listened yet for what it's worth - I don't expect it will be better than a Primus album, but I kinda hoped it would be better than Green Naugahyde, which is clearly their worst in my opinion. GN smacked of a band out of ideas to me, so perhaps this new concept album will be some kind of trigger for some more interesting music down the track.

I'll be surprised if you like the Chocolate Factory attempt better than GN. Definitely take a listen and report back.

Way too many sing-songy riffs... the source material is pretty weak, and doesn't lend itself to a Primus reinterpretation.

By the way, GN had some decent songs on it, and they killed live that tour. Very refreshing to see them again after a bunch of years (was pretty burnt after probably a dozen live shows). Really made me appreciate Les again.

They were great last year with Herb back on drums. I thought they were pretty underwhelming with Jay playing a couple of years earlier. In total I've seen Primus 4 times, two with Herb and two with out. The two shows with him were much better than the ones without (though I thought the show they played with Brain in 2000 was pretty good).

Yeah. I mean, it's a really great curiosity and a neat thing but as a "Primus album" it's pretty underwhelming. Not hating! Glad he did it and it's cool, but for my taste the weird-to-satisfying ratio is all out of whack here.

New Foo Fighters track is out:

Not terrible, not great either. I'm not expecting this new album to be any good, but I am looking forward to Sonic Highways, which starts this weekend from memory.

Well I thought it was ok. It had some enjoyable moments, but not in a Primus-y way. I quite liked the Oompa Loompa tracks. I don't see myself spinning it all that often though.

It's like a slightly more "edgy" Nickelback.

Still the public gets what the public deserves.....blah blah blah blah

Sounds like Dave Grohl has been down too long in the midnight sea.

Your comment is about as edgy and predictable as Nickleback as well. Surely you can do better?

No....."a slighty more edgy Nickelback" fits quite snugly for Dave and his co-horts.

Bland, predictable and white bread FM radio rock with just enough street cred to corner the "alt-radio" youth market.

Two demographics for the price of one.

On ya Dave.

I'm not debating your assessment, just your lack of innovation in trolling Foo Fighters fans. I'd only rate it about a 2/10.

The Foo's have always been a middle of the road rock band, the only difference between them and Nickleback is one has the drummer from Nirvana.
