I screwed up my post earlier but tried to say, if they do make it, the bassist Gary seems to hang out with regular people in the smoking area before the show. Cool to say hi and pre party with a bit. Hopefully it works out as they have been out of the country to Europe and Mexico recently without issues.

Well Slipknot was good last night, Gojira was awesome but the vocals were really low and didn't get to play long enough since they had the 3rd slot behind FUCKING Volbeat! Slipknots stage was really cool.

Still waiting to consume Fear Inoculum only 2 days until blastoff! Seams most are digging it, had some good spoiler free convo at the show about FI.

Glen Hansard and band were so damn ON last night in SF at the stunning Masonic theater. They played a good long set, hitting most of the new album (This Wild Willing) interspersed with the classics. He always gathers impeccable musicians and they put everything they have into it. I love that man.

Brought back a flood of memories of my buddy and shows we’ve seen there together over the years. Very emotional as we are burying him this afternoon. It’s going to be a tough day.

Sounds interesting. Also appearing at MONA FOMA in Tassie:

Laibach – ‘The Sound of Music’
EXCLUSIVE SYDNEY SOLO HEADLINE SHOW
Jan 16 - Sydney, Metro Theatre

TICKETS ON SALE 10AM EDST Monday October 21st from www.ticketek.com.au

Slovenia’s industrial pop pioneers and political provocateurs were the first ‘foreign’ rock band to be invited into North Korea and perform in Pyongyang. Now they’re coming to Sydney to take on The Sound of Music—and selected songs from their back catalogue, reaching back to 1980—including Also Sprach Zarathustra, Spectre, Sympathy for the Devil, WAT, Kapital, Volk, Laibach Revisited….
All with experimental flair and boundary-smashing gusto.

For nearly forty years now, from their genesis in the then-Yugoslavian industrial town Trbovlje, Laibach are still the most internationally acclaimed band to have come out of the former Communist countries of Eastern and Central Europe.

The Sound of Music was conceived when Laibach were infamously invited to perform in North Korea in 2015. The band performed several songs from the 1965 film’s soundtrack at the concert in Pyongyang, chosen by Laibach as it’s a well-known and beloved film in the DPRK and often used by schoolchildren to learn English. The album gives the Laibach treatment to tracks such as ‘My Favorite Things’, ‘Edelweiss’, ‘Do-Re-Mi’ and ‘Maria’, here reworked as ‘Maria / Korea’ (“How do you solve a problem like Maria / Korea?”).

Don't mind Parramatta Park as a venue, the Harvest Festival there was great.

Being two consecutive days is interesting. Based on that I probably wouldn't expect a headliner to have an overly elaborate stage setup.

Hmm maybe a pared down festival version for Melbourne and Sydney and a bells and whistles show for Adelaide, Brisbane and Perth. Works for me!

I would imagine the scaffolding etc is the biggest component of it all, individual needs while more painful for some that others should be able to catered for in addition to you'd think ??

@junior care to way in here ?
