Well, I gotta say the choice of support act for the Dead Cross tour is interesting to say the least:

The good news here is that the 3? tracks they've released so far, are the weakest tracks on the album. This one could be a grower I reckon.

So my verdict is that the Dead Cross album overall is pretty good. I'd say about an 8/10, and probably a good chance for my top 10 of 2017 list.

Dead Cross with Neil Hamburger as opening act.

I'd pay good money to see that....

The details are fuzzy at best, but it appears that Dead Cross lead singer Mike Patton was involved in some sort of accident that was bad enough to force the band to cancel their Los Angeles show tonight (August 20). After Secret Chiefs 3 wrapped up their opening set, a half an hour passed after Dead Cross was slated to go on stage. Then, the curtains parted with drummer Dave Lombardo standing on stage, visibly emotional.

The band explained that they would not be playing that night, there was some sort of accident and Patton would not be able to perform as he normally would. Lombardo did make it clear the accident “was not grave” but that he had been hurt and that the band would make up the show down the road. He stated that he and the other two band members of this hardcore supergroup – Justin Pearson of The Locust and Mike Crain of Retox – would be traveling to where Patton was located to be with him. Before exiting the stage, Lombardo hoped for a “speedy recovery” for the iconic vocalist.

Naah! Let the little "Liberal Lefties" have their moment to shine. The adults have got plenty to do in the meantime.

See Mike Patton, DJ QBert Stage First Collaborative Shows in San Francisco

Faith No More's Mike Patton and master turntablist DJ QBert staged their first-ever collaboration this weekend in San Francisco, where the duo performed a pair of impromptu concerts at the city's The Chapel venue.

Beastie Boys keyboardist Money Mark also appeared during the gigs, which occurred on little notice after the venue's residency with Bauhaus' Peter Murphy was postponed due to that singer's passport issues.

"After having to reschedule the first few nights because of a delay in processing of Peter's visa (he was coming from Turkey), today we were forced to reschedule the entire residency to June. There was no end in sight to the visa process, and we couldn't, in good conscience, keep rescheduling," a spokesperson for the venue told Rolling Stone.

"Enter Mike Patton and QBert – who have stepped in to absolutely save the day for us. We're an independently owned and operated venue in SF (one of very few of our size in SF), so this move has some extremely serious implications for us."

The collaboration – which sold out its Friday show that resulted in another gig Saturday – featured a mix of Patton tracks (including Peeping Tom's "Your Neighborhood Spaceman" and "Sucker"), DJ QBert showcasing his World DJ Championship-winning skills as well as improvisations between the duo.

Dead Cross have just released a new self-titled EP, Metal Hammer can now exclusively reveal.

The four-track EP (which includes two remixes) is available digitally now, with a 10-inch vinyl version coming on June 29 via Ipecac Records.

Dead Cross have also launched a video for new song My Perfect Prisoner, produced by Eric Livingston, who also created the band's album and EP cover art.

The remixes on this EP are pretty good - better than the new songs actually (which I suspect are outtakes from the album). Shillegah sounds like a completely different song.
