I really think people's nostalgia of the original trilogy makes them think they are these perfect pieces of film
Exact opposite for me, they were never perfect but they were amazingly entertaining stories of space adventure.

And then we got the political and CGI mess of the prequels and then the soft reboot of the franchise with The Force Awakens and then the subverting the fans expectations with The Last Jedi and finally on all accounts the over the top fan service of The Rise of Skywalker.

An absolute cluster fuck that has nothing to do with nostalgia.

Actually the original trilogy were pretty great, nostalgia or not. None of the movies to come since have really compared.

That said, I wasn't expecting the Godfather when I watched the sequel trilogy, and enjoyed them for what they were.

The first Guardians of the Galaxy felt thematically to me close to the original trilogy.

Also The Godfather is overrated as fuck.

I love The original trilogy, but completely understand when people think it's ridiculous.

I found the rise of Skywalker to be an amazingly entertaining story of space adventure. The trilogy itself was terribly handled as a whole but I really enjoyed TFA & this latest one for what they are. If I want something completely original I wont be going to watch a franchise that is over 40 years old.

who in gods name thinks the OT is ridiculous ? O o i dont mean people that have no interest in SW cause, well they dont have any interest in SW! which is diff obviously.

cool you liked the new one. i do too but the pace the 2nd time around felt fast but slow and long at the same time if that makes sense. still has lots of good moments and i think they wrote it fairly well in some regards. its just a matter of perspective in how you see certain things. another friend of mine ripped it apart badly but hes overly negative for sure. whatever. have fun seeing it!

Will elements of these characters be more memorable with time ? i dont know. sometimes time makes things better with SW but so far i dont look back at TFA as much. prob my least favourite of the sequal trilogy. one of the strongest story arcs for me is in TLJ with Poe. not that i thought it was amazing or anything but it stands out more then the others to me for some reason :/

i do think TLJ gets over hated but so did the prequels. SW fans are the worst! ha

I think part of the problem with the latest one is purely because of the big steaming pile of crap a movie the last Jedi was. TLJ shat all over what JJ did so he had to pick the pieces back up and try to wrap it all up as a solid conclusion. All things considered, I think he did well.

I don't think The Last Jedi was a steaming pile of shit at all. It was a weak, contrived story, which bugs me the most. The whole casino arc is pretty cringeworthy and a waste of time. The humour in the movie I found more miss than hit.

That's not to say it's without strong points. I like what they did with Luke Skywalker. I thought the interaction and story between Rey, Kylo Ren and Snoke was great. I like that Poe didn't just get his way.

I think the Force Awakens is probably the best of the three. It does a great job of introducing the new characters. It's fan service is pretty nice as well - the scene where Rey & Finn board the Falcon is one of my favorite moments from the sequel trilogy. I think the humour in the movie is surprisingly good.

I agree the falcon scene is up there as one of the best in the trilogy.

Not so sure about that
When ESB was released it was divisive as well. It got more credits as years passed.

Blade Runner same story.

Really? I guess my memory doesn't stretch back far enough to a point where it wasn't well regarded.

Busty McCracken wrote: Sun Dec 22, 2019 8:03 pm Just watched it a second time. Enjoyed it even more. Fuck the haters, you want deep complex story telling, go elsewhere. Its star wars , not schindlers list.

I really think people's nostalgia of the original trilogy makes them think they are these perfect pieces of film , which they are anything but.
Good for you. Enjoy your popcorn.

- Yes. The louder the better. Stops me from thinking.

- Never thought about it.

Madalorian ep 8 was a pretty solid finale to the season.

Had a great laugh at the episode opener sequence, wasn't surprised at all when I saw the directors name.

That's because, I'm what they refer too commonly as a good c##t. You're welcome mate.

In all honesty wasn't much of a spoiler but thought no point ruining the gag for others.

Shit really? Forgot about it obviously.

If anyone wants a good laugh, check out these user reviews subject headers and opening lines for the movie cats. Don't worry about clicking into each review, just the subject line and opening paragraphs is enough to give you a great laugh.
