I'm still not convinced it's not another one of Joaquin Phoenix's long cons. It doesn't seem like a real movie to me.

That's a big "meh" from me. DC have such a poor track record its hard to get excited about Joker.

Counterpoint: it's the director of The Hangover trilogy.

Agreed. It is not like I am a huge super hero movie fan anyway but I do end up watching most of them but this one will likely be a pass. Plus to be honest Heath Ledger was so good as the Joker seeing anyone else play him just doesn’t interest me. I simply can’t imagine anyone could ever even come close to matching what Ledger did with that character. It was such a masterful performance.
All that said Aquaman was surprisingly half decent, although that was mostly because Jason Momoa was excellent.

Joaquin Phoenix runs circles around Heath Ledger in terms of acting, the guy is one of the best in the business.

Not sure that anyone really disputes that. No denying that Ledger nailed the Joker though. It's a hard act to follow.

Joaquin Phoneix is an excellent actor but i think it is not entirely fair to say he runs circles around Ledger. We really don't know how good Heath Ledger could have ended up being. What the joker performance would have done for his career going forward.
I also think you are going a bit far with one of the best in the business. He is a good actor but we are not talking Daniel Day-Lewis level or anywhere close. He is certainly not cracking any top 10 or even top 20 lists.

Agree to disagree, he's easy top 5 working actors for me.
His acting in The Master is a master class.

Fair enough man. The dude is one hell of an actor there is no doubt. Let me know what you think when you watch the movie and if you think the performance is up to the level of Ledger's joker I will check it

Honestly I don't really rate Nolan's trilogy, Batman Begins was the highlight for me.

I am not a big fan either to be honest. Ledger's performance as the Joker and Hardy as Bane are huge highlights otherwise the trilogy didn't do much for me.
When it comes to superhero movies there are only three that really come to mind in the Marvel/DC franchise that I absolutely loved. Logan, Deadpool and Guardians of the Galaxy. Most of these superhero movies are just spectacle pieces for me. Mindless enjoy the special effects experiences. Only the three I listed above really did anything for me on any kind of critical level. I know there are a ton of movies that were actually originally comics that most people don't realize were comics so again I am speaking specifically to the Marvel/DC universe.
