I watched the first five minutes (without any clue of what was to come), & was left gobsmacked.

Pretty much the worst decision in terms of plot direction, that could ever be taken, in the history of cinema.

I'm gonna watch it this w/e because i have to... But i'm now really not sure i want to.

Yeah. That was the whole thing about bringing him back into the franchise (after so many shitty followups to T2).
I guess not though. Real pity.

Was his involvement any more than just a name on the poster?

He saw the directors rough cut, hated it and took control of the editing of it, so yes, he had a HUGE involvement in the film.

He was also heavily involved in the writing of the film.

Remember when a whole bunch of people were convinced David Lynch was doing a video for Tool just because one of them liked his twitter account...

Brightburn, neat. Kiddie superman has issues.
Game Night, I laughed, so it passed the comedy test
Triple threat, failed. All these actors and only last twenty minutes their talents are put to use
Midsommar, under that bright sun a dark dark story. Pretty good movie with excellent Pugh.
Girl with the dragon tattoo, fincher knows how to make these movies.

Escape from North Korea is a scifi comedy filmed as a homage to 80's action films. Funded through Kickstarter, it was filmed over the course of three years and completed with a skeleton crew to stay within budget. Almost the entire film was shot against a 9'x10' green screen.

In a distant 1980’s future, America’s Last Ninja must save the First Daughter of the United States from the Supreme Leader of Neo-North Korea. It throws every 80's pop culture icon at you from ninjas, nazi's, lasers, kung fu, giant robots, and off-world excursions.

Mortal Kombat - Revenge of Scorpion.

Animated movie. Gory as all hell, they need to try replicate that into a live action movie now.
