This should be resurrected. Let's see if it lasts...

I have not tried preparing this, nor will I likely ever try it, but I certainly would eat some of it if somebody prepared it for me.

Heart attack food:

That's another thing I wouldn't mind seeing the internet get over: Bacon.

true dat ... I was loving bacon since before Al Gore ever invented the interwebz.

the internet took one of my 10 greatest loves in life and made it some sort of slut for everyone else to over stuff. I want MY bacon back!

I've recently discovered that I like cake. My new thing is white-chocolate banana cake at my work cafe. My co-worker got me onto it.

And that looks delightful.

I'm more of a pie man myself. I find cake to be a bit too insubstantial.

Now, when Americans mean "pie" do you mean as in the baked pastry with the "lid" on top?

Because when I went there, a pie was, like, kind of a pie but without the lid on it, and more kind of cake-y and fluffy. It was hard to describe, to be honest.

No - it's the last clown that got too lippy around Pete's neighbourhood.

Simple salsa salad. (No skill required)

I get tired of ordinary green salads and parsley is really a wonder food.

Parsley (any variety or a mix)
Spring onions
Tomatoes (cherry toms chopped up look nice)
Capers (be liberal)
Avocado
Fresh lime or lemon juice.

well Crow is partly right ... only the red and blue were painstakingly extracted from that clown ... he was a complete asshole about it, too ... didn't laugh at all. All other colours were squeezed/smashed/extracted naturally from locally grown organic skittles, a crocodiles dick and a baby unicorn ... took me nearly a year to source that unicorn!

Lentils are so underrated. Just made a bomb ass salad.

Lentils
Finely chopped tomato, Spanish onion, cilantro, chili, cous cous (or quinoa), juice of half a lemon, a drizzle of EVOO and boom!

Slap that next to a side of grilled barramundi and a nice cold Sierra Nevada and you have yourself a nice Sunday lunch. Cheers

Just purchased:

1 whole garlic
3 large onions
1 whole celery
1.5kg Bell peppers (Capiscum)
2 jars of jalapenos peppers
2 cans of diced tomatoes
6 cans of red kidney beans
3 chorizos
50grams of chili powder
25grams of ground cumin
1.5kg of chicken thigh fillets
500grams of lamb mine
500grams of pork mince
1 liter of beef stock

Heat up some oil in a large deep dish and cut up the chorizo's and brown them, set aside.
More oil and brown the lamb mince in portions, set aside, rinse and repeat with pork mince.
Cut up the onions and garlic and brown in the same pot and set aside.
Cut up the celery & bell peppers, wash, sweat them off and set aside.
Now throw that deep dish in the trash, you're done with it.
Get a large stock pot and heat up some oil.
Cut up the chicken thighs and throw them in the pot.
Now go wash your hands moron, you've just been touching raw chicken and throw the cutting board in the sink and pour boiling water over it, no one is dying on my watch.
Once the chicken is browned, throw in all the other meats, garlic and onion and mix.
Now throw in 2 jars of jalapenos (liquid & all), half a cup of malt vinegar (that wasn't even in the list, haha fuck you), chili & cummin powder, grinder salt & pepper (about 10 twists of salt & 25 twists of pepper) and mix.
Now throw in the 2 cans of diced tomatoes and mix.
Throw in celery & bell peppers and mix.
Finally pour in the beef stock and you guessed it, mix.
Throw a lid on that bad boy and bring to boil.
Once boiling turn down the heat to bring it to a slow simmer.
Now go fuck yourself for half an hour, once that's done get a spoon and have a taste of the liquid, it should burn your upper lip for at least a minute or you got fucked over with your chili powder.
Don't worry yourself princess if it's too hot, it mellows out after cooking it for awhile.
Now leave it for a minimum 4 hours, 6 is good.
Half an hour before finishing rinse out your kidney beans (you think I forgot didn't you, thanks for having faith in me cunt) and add them to the pot and mix.
Wait half an hour, turn it off and don't fucking touch it, just leave it overnight (or put it in the fridge if you've got room once it's cooled down, I don't, I'm not drinking warm beers).
Now you should have enough for 14 generous portions because you're a sad cunt who lives alone and can't trust himself to cook at night so he needs something he can safely microwave instead of cooking black out drunk and burning the house down.

Total cost: $70
Per serve: $5

Serve with 2/3 cup of rice

Not really, but my wife did buy one of these cheap ass faux-thermomix devices the other day. Seems to be pretty good so far, quite good at preparing doughs and other baked goods that are terrible for my diet.

Semi relevant to this thread, I just found out Coles got busted selling their own fresh bread, even saying baked today! When it was baked in Europe then frozen.

I brought that bread a fair few times thinking it was fresher than the other stuff, oh well, Bakers Delight it is.

They better get a massive fine, that's complete bullshit.

I thought it was just the dough that was frozen, but the actual baking was done locally?

Anyway, I expect that pretty much anything not purchased from a specialist bakery is not especially fresh. If fresh is a big deal to someone, they should probably bake their own, and avoid Coles/Woolies.

http://www.smh.com.au/business/court-ba ... 0nhi0.html

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission launched proceedings against Coles in June 2013, accusing the supermarket chain of misleading consumers to think bread was made on the day at the store when, in some cases, the bread had been partially baked months earlier in overseas factories.

Buffalo Wings.
Sauce:
2 Frank Sauce bottles (they started selling Franks sauce franks sauce buffalo wings flavour. If they have this get this otherwise normal franks is sweet
Vinegar. Say 50 – 100 mls
Tomato sauce. Not too much just a bit to fill it up a bit
Paprika, a fair amount
Cayenne pepper. Dont go too silly but have a go all the same
Onion flakes
Garlic
Salt & pepper
Little bit of butter
Honey. Generous amount
Little bit of Dijon mustard
Wostercshire sauce (just a dash)

Place all the above into a pot and simmer for a good 20 minutes or so until it starts to thicken up.

Say about 2kgs of chicken wings

If ya want you can brown the chicken wings either side under the grill but not absolutely required. Baste the wings in the sauce you’ve simmered and chuck in the oven for about 20 minutes turning once if ya can be stuffed. I don’t worry about any dipping sauces or anything. Far ken mint recipe from Busty to you.

@busty Is that sweet paprika or smoked? Is the garlic powdered or fresh? And I've never heard of Franks Sauce. Is this a Queensland thing? What could I substitute?

He's talking about Franks Hot Sauce you can get it at the majors.

Personally don't like the stuff but I'm a chili head so my opinion is up my arse in regards to hot sauce.

You can get this hot sauce at the majors as well which i my favourite if we are talking about easy to obtain hot sauces
