Run The Jewels is clearly the favorite, as Billy Hill has suggested, but what else is going to be on your shortlist? What albums should we have listened to that we may not have?

Going by my review threads, my shortlist would include (but probably not limited to):

Skinfather - None Will Mourn
Aborted - The Necrotic Manifesto
Holy Mountain - Ancient Astronauts
Killer Be Killed (though I've cooled on this a bit since my 9/10 review)
Lord Mantis - Death Mask
Dead Congregation - Promulgation of the Fall
Misery Index - The Killing God
Young And In The Way - When Life Comes To Death
The Austerity Program - Beyond Calculation
Mastodon - Once More 'Round The Sun
Coffin Birth - Necrotic Liquefaction
Yob - Clearing The Path To Ascend
Opeth - Pale Communion
Code Orange - I Am King
Trans Am - Volume X
Shellac - Dude Incredible
Lazer/Wulf - The Beast of Left and Right
Iron Reagan - The Tyranny of Will
Philm - Fire From The Evening Sun

quick list of stuff not listed above off the top of my head (updated)

not likely to be in other top tens, but under consideration from me:

'68
Jakob
Floor - Oblation
Barrows - Red Giant

not really doing it for me, but likely deserving of some love

TV on the Radio - Seeds
Beck - Morning Phase

Because I've seen it flogged by a couple on this site:

The Contortionist

new and (mostly) decent stuff I listened to and remember but maybe not top 10:

Le Butcherettes - Cry is for the Flies
United Nations - The Next Four Years
Agollach - The Serpent and the Sphere
Bastard Sapling - Instinct is Forvever
King Buzzo - This Machine Kills Artists
Mark Lanegan - Phantom Radio (+ No Bells on Sunday)
Nadja - Queller
Killer be Killed
Inter Arma - The Cavern
Truckfighters - Universe
Animals as Leaders - The Joy of Motion

Going to make most lists (and likely 4th Eye) because people have horribly generic taste:

The War on Drugs

in all honesty, I think this years' top 10 is gonna be weak with my top 3 or 4 already cemented

Of sorts.

Mastadon - Once More 'Round the Sun
Opeth - Pale Communion
Animals As Leaders - Joy of Motion
At The Gates - At War With Reality

Was not thoroughly not impressed with the output of albums this year.

If that's the only four you can think of then I'd suggest you need to listen to more music.

Melvins - Hold It In
Aphex Twin - Syro
Old Man Gloom - The Ape Of God
Jakob - Sines
Teach Me Equals - Knives In The Hope Chest
Lazer/Wulf - The Beast Of Left and Right

Cloudkicker - Live with Intronaut
Mogwai - Rave Tapes
Earth - Primitive and Deadly

I need to give To Be Kind another listen. Only spun it once, but I never really went back to it.

Gonna be rough consideration since most of the trax had been released already and the original mixes sounded better. Also messed with the flow of record reorganising the track order

Been meaning to give that a listen, thanx for the reminder

It only just came out today so you're not exactly slacking, haha.

That's why I thought this thread would be a good idea. There are at least a dozen or more on here that I have not heard or considered.

Here are a few that are not mentioned that are toying with my top albums this year. I'll add more later

Wo Fat - Conjuring
Angus and Julia Stone - Self titled
Collapse under the Empire - Shoulders and Giants
She Keeps Bees - Eight Houses
Peggy Sue - Choir of Echos

Worth mentioning again...
Truckfighters - Universe
Jakob - Sines

This is good but I wouldn't call it music. It's more of a bunch of sounds/notes/noises arranged into a sort of sound-scape.

Oh and "Uurop VIII-XII:Places In Sun And Winter, Son" by The Fall. A rather poor release for THE FALL, but 2014 didn't yield much music I liked.

Forget about YOB or Spectral Lore or even Revocation because this jazz cover of Smash Mouth's "Walkin on the Sun" is easily the best thing I've heard this year.
