Any predictions on what the site's top 10 albums will be?

My guesses (in no particular order):

The Heart Is A Monster - Failure
Money Shot - Puscifer
Purple - Baroness
The Direction of Last Things - Intronaut
Coma Ecliptic - Between The Buried and Me
Psychic Warfare - Clutch
Hand. Cannot. Erase - Steven Wilson
Sol Invictus - Faith No More
Abyss - Chelsea Wolfe

That's 9. I can't think of a good tenth one.

I hope it's Slipknot again, the exact same album too.

Nah, Disturbed ain't no Slipknot.

But... Lamb of God did put out a new album. That could be it. Or maybe the new Slayer?

I predicted most of those. The only real surprises are the Bjork album and that Elder Lore album. Bjork is just one I had forgotten even came out this year. That Elder - Lore is one I had heard of but have no real knowledge of. Guess I should check it out.

I'm still working my way through these lists, including Mog's...

I am surprised that this did not make it on any list I've seen:

[BBvideo 560,340][/BBvideo]

Panzerballett - Breaking Brain - 2015

A buddy of mine turned me onto them. They are all over the place stylistically, but amazing musicians - this is their 5th album I believe. I dig most if not all of it.

What the fucking fuck? You crazy fucks voted Puscifer as album of the year??????

Dammit this is Fourth Eye and I expect more from all of you. Yeah most of you might have an odd and unsettling obsession and borderline apologist psychosis with a rather shitty unprofessional band...but dammit many of the regs at least have good taste in music. How in the fucking fuck did that half ass album make it to the top? How in the hell can you compare a marginal album like Money Shot to a work of near perfection in We Lost the Sea's Departure Songs or Chelsea Wolfe's masterpiece, Abyss?

What planet are you people from? This hero worship shit is insane. I could list at least 50 albums right now off the top of my head released this year that are better than Money Shot. What the motherfucking fuck????

:D

I think it simply received the most appearances in people's top 10 lists, not that it was number 1 in all of those lists.

Not sure this will make you feel any better, but...just so ya know.

Hang in there man!

If memory serves me right COMP didn't win album of the year here so it's not simply an "it's May Jay" thing. It is a solid album but I agree that it's not AOTY.

Either way who cares. Last year freaking Slipknot won for fuck's sake.

Yup, it's not like there's a great track record to live up to....

Now, getting back to something more important..... Anybody even HEAR of Panzerballett before?

I'm glad Kamasi Washington ended up on the list of nominees even if I hadn't voted for him personally. This album would've made my list if I had known about it prior to submitting my votes.

Dammit no that is just not acceptable. This is Fourth Eye. A site with regulars who have superb taste in music (minus a band or two ;) ) ... It is the damn lurkers who are just here browsing jerkin it for Tool news.

And while I am on another rant I cannot for the life of me understand the fascination some of you have with Ghost. All gimmick no substance. And how in the fuck did Elder make the top 10? I mean that album isn't bad but it sure as hell isn't top 10 material.

Okay time for a break. The bloody Tool tour is going to start and I sure as hell can't handle being around here for that. Someone wake me up when it is over. In the meantime I will continue to scour the interwebz for the very best in music and report back once that joke of a band you all love so much finish their latest greatest hits tour.

Ghost's gimmick is as shit as their music.

The Edler album is great, and will almost certainly be in my top 10.

I haven't published the article on the blog yet, but my top 10 (in a rough order, though plenty are interchangeable) will be:

Faith No More - Sol Invictus
Wand - Golem
Elder - Lore
High Tension - Bully
Destruction Unit - Negative Feedback Resistor
Cult Leader - Lightless Walk
Cloud Rat - Qliphoth
High On Fire - Luminiferous
Deafheaven - New Bermuda
Pinkish Black - Bottom of the Morning

That bottom 5 was pretty hard to pick, there's be a bunch of albums I'd quite happily include:

Nice Hooves - The Gall
Failure - The Heart Is A Monster
Drowning Horse - Sheltering Sky
Cosmic Psycho's - Cum The Raw Prawn
KEN Mode - Success
Khemmis - Absolution
Intronaut - The Direction of Last Things
Metz - II
Fuck The Facts - Desire Will Rot
Drenge - Undertow

I'd also add I've probably listened to a lot less music this year than I would have liked. There's plenty on others top 10/25 lists that I need to spend time listening to.

That Elder album is good. I don't think it would have made my Top 10 list, but I ain't got no problem with it cracking another person's list.

I was one who voted for Kamasi Washington. This was a tough year to post just 10 albums. I actually had to leave out 2 of my favorite bands from the list, Faith No More and Clutch, and I really like both of those albums.

Interesting revisiting my 2015 list. I'd say I now listen to the Nice Hooves, KEN Mode and Khemmis albums more than I do most of the top 10.

Revised top 10 (in no real order except FNM was a clear #1):

Faith No More - Sol Invictus
Wand - Golem
High Tension - Bully
Destruction Unit - Negative Feedback Resistor
Cult Leader - Lightless Walk
Deafheaven - New Bermuda
Pinkish Black - Bottom of the Morning
Nice Hooves - The Gall
KEN Mode - Success
Khemmis - Absolution

The new one was excellent, got very close to my top 10 for this year. I didn't top Absolution though.
