Criticism that they sound too much like great Tool songs isn't so distressing to me. At least people aren't comparing them to Swamp Song or Maynards Dick

Fucking can’t wait for a single release/album. Really want to hear studio versions of these two songs. Hype is real, also is the Birmingham Alabama recordings still the best out there? If not could somebody message me a link or in this thread to the best in your opinion version, please. On a strict 2 listen regiment a week with these 2 songs, hahaha. Joking about that, but I have averaged that just cuz those recordings only sound good on headphones and I don’t wear those very much. It’s so funny to love a band so much, I love all kinds of music genres even some country, but Tool is the only band that I really love.

@ Junior - yeah, thanks for the details. My comment was made right after seeing it listed in the Setlist Ziggy posted as what seemed like Tool performing it as a cover. My assumption made an ass out of me.

@ Chill - Nice. Maybe we need a “Best Descending and Invincible Links” thread?

The Berlin videos have audio on par with Birmingham, (more clarity/boost in the low end) and better footage than Rockville. Chicago videos are pretty good. Prague and Vienna (I think?) had a new guitar part in Invincible, but its it's hard to find a full video. I gonna listen to that Download footage right meow.

Definitely sounds like they went from playing a flat 2nd to a minor 3rd in that synth breakdown. That Rubix cube theory's holding up.

According to a recent Reddit post there's a new album listening event for European media happening either tonight, or has happened recently. I expect an embargo will prevent any reviews getting out, but maybe we'll here some snippets of info in the coming days.

This criticism is bizarre to me what did people expect? Tool to stop being Tool? Did they expect a post-rock album or maybe indie folk?

Descending and Invincible sound like Tool which is what I would expect. They do not sound like any other prior Tool song. There are elements or moments here or there but that is the case with every single band on the planet that has a unique signature sound or style.

Descending and Invincible are absolutely incredible songs. Far far exceeded my expectations. I figured any new Tool would be solid. I did not expect this level of good.

What's the point of a listening event for media then??

Yep I'd day Berlin vids are outstanding video/ audio quality. Best I've heard followed by Birmingham. Especially descending

Far out these bootlegs are getting better by the day. Almost Salival level audio in parts, plus the visuals look damm near proshot when in focus.

The proliferation online that any man and his otter can look up just makes it weirder to me (socks and all) that they don't release the/a single.

Also @junior - bit of a weird Q but any reason why the confetti at the end of Stinkfist is no more? I imagined it was some impressively large trigger device like something from the batcave that activated it.... or the Waynes World twizzler thing above your head that you gave a yank and away she blows. It was a cool addition. Too much mess for the event staff afterwards?

Gosh darn the second half of Descending is amazing.

Those 4 heavy duty lights aren't hung literally above the band are they Junior?

Not sure if you're taking the piss or not, but I have no doubt you know how embargoes work. They want media to hear it, and the write about it in time for a specific date, but can't really just upload the files somewhere and distribute them.
