Opiate2
Re: Opiate2
Would have been just as happy with a live recording tbh. Hope the video is interesting.
Re: Opiate2
I thought the new version was great, and a good addition to the Tool catalog. Agree with those that say it might not have been necessary to even do this re-recording/version of a 30 year old song but it was still good. Makes me think of the opportunities they could have if they chose to re-record other songs. Even if they only wanted to record a single new version of a song, somewhat odd they chose Opiate. I guess it was meant to be a throwback to their first hit/EP.
My biggest take away from this is that Tool actually released a single on streaming. A single track. That could open the door for them to experiment with other singles, new tracks, EPs, etc...

Re: Opiate2
I wasn't too excited hearing about this release, but I'm impressed by how far the song has come. It's clearly something they're still proud of, and more so something they still play and work with. Hearing some of the earlier songs, evolved into where the band has grown is refreshing. Who better to cover a tool song a hundred times than tool

Re: Opiate2
i find this track a very, very pleasent surprise
all four of them sounds fucking great and the song brings that fear inoculum top shelf sound with the power of the 90ies
it also fits into fear inoculum for me, and i tend to listen to the album as a whole with this track in it, after cctrip, before tempest
somehow it makes the experience whole
also im not a vinyl hipster but i would listen to it very much, do we have any info on that?

Didn't they record this new version, like, six years ago?
Oh well.

6 years? Seeing something released in 6 years would be like a dream for Tool fans. This is probably at least 8 years oldCalfium Jay wrote: ↑Wed Mar 09, 2022 2:30 am Didn't they record this new version, like, six years ago?

Re: Opiate2
Looking forward to seeing the Music Video, anyone know If it’ll be released to the general public on their YouTube or strictly a blu ray purchase?
Re: Opiate2
They prob will upload the video to youtube. They'd get the views/money that way, instead of people pirating it more and watching it for free, free. A hard copy release only isn't a smart move in todays world, i'd think. Maybe they'll wait for a bit ? hard to say with these guys.BlackHole83 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 12, 2022 12:21 am Looking forward to seeing the Music Video, anyone know If it’ll be released to the general public on their YouTube or strictly a blu ray purchase?

OK that's fucking awesome, not hippy dippy bs, back to the roots.
Also @ 2:30, that's what it feels like to put your tongue on a D battery.

Re: Opiate2
Arrived today. Anyone got a Blu-ray I can borrow? TF
Re: Opiate2
Nice video, though it kinda dragged a bit in the middle. Commentary was ok. Unsure if the package is worth the asking price tbh, so inclined to wait for it to come on sale somewhere.
Re: Opiate2
Agreed. I think the inclusion of a digital download of the new track and/or a live recording should have been included.
Great new recording of the song, cool video, humorous commentary, and some nice behind the scenes photos, but it really doesn’t seem all that substantial for the cost.
So Long, and Thanks for All the Tool.
