Voting - Politics

Just wondering what everyone thought about voting and it bringing the changes we want in society.

I went with Undecided because I don't believe my vote does anything to change the world.

I understand that and would change the wording in the poll if I could to reflect something a bit more feasible like your country or community, but I can't.

Would you change your vote if it were worded different??

Most of the time and it's the best system we have, now lets out the filthy commies.

This, in the U.S. anyway, is why politicians can keep screwing us.  Because they KNOW that a lot of people are like this.

 

Now, you didn't say that you don't vote so I'm not talking about you directly, I mean people who have this attitude AND don't vote because of it.

 

I vote because it's what I can do.  Sure it's a whimper, but there are plenty of people around the world who would kill/die to be able to do so.

To be honest the best system is a dictatorship run by me.  It'd be the best country in the world.  Dictatorship gets a bad rap.  I imagine a country with a dictator that was actually any good would be a fantastic one.

Socialism's probably your best option, then.

I don't know. I look at countries like North Korea, and I just shake me head. Were greed to not exist, there's a solid chance that that place could be a utopia. The only problem is that they have no resources for export.

Bhutan is the closest to a succesful, happy, dictatorship - and even that is constitutional monarchy. So, nowhere near, really.

I really wish that the Masons or the Illuminati really ran the world, as people keep claiming. Your average world citizen has trouble getting out of bed in the morning, let alone making the tough decisions. I say let the Masons run the world. Or someone who acts out of pure justice and peace.

People can't be trusted. And if we really want to be free, a functional, co-operative anarchy is our only option.

My sociology senses are tingling, now that I've had a few beers. Great thread.

I was discussing this with a friend and was arguing that voting, in the traditional sense, does nothing anymore. Maybe we need to 'vote' in a different way... such as non-participation or participation in something else entirely.

I don't know who this guy is but he is passionate and he makes a few good points.

I think r the whole political system in the United States should be flushed away. Our government hasn't been about "we the people" in a long time. Our government can even agree to disagree. And if you don't believe in a shadow govt., you need to look no further than the big businesses that run this country. I stopped voting a few years back. I'm not going to participate in such nonsense.

I have never been in to politics, the whole thing is just annoying in my opinion. I know I should be considerate of the leaders of my country but to me it's just a popularity contest. They always lie anyway.
