Random Tool Social Media thread
Re: Random Tool Social Media thread
Based on the rant I'd say that other nerves were struck as well...

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread
my original post wasn't exactly a baby-rant, it just seems like the reality of the situation. these guys much like everyone else in the industry (who don't own their own publishing) get paid by touring. it seems difficult when looking at the most recent news. but I do think these life changes will bring much more creativity to the table, I mean, being a first time dad? damn, that's pretty powerful. saved a few of my friends lives, literally. this might delay things significantly but I see these guys coming back re-energized for years to come.
so to encapsulate, this will most likely delay the new LP/tour but this also MIGHT have added a decade to this bands timeline. think about that. long term investment of creativity here ladies and gents. not optimal being 10,000 Days was completed about 4,000 days ago but this is the longevity none of us really cared about 2-3 years ago but it might be very important. immediate divs? not really my interest anymore. I'm 33, I'd really like to have another 2 albums to play with when I'm 44, god willing. and by God I mean this guy...

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread
I honestly believe Tool will just keep going until one of them dies. They've made it a long way so far and honestly it doesn't take a lot of invested time at any one point in their lives to keep it going. They just sort of go with the flow---if one of them is busy, it seems the rest of them can respectfully just sit back and wait. I think they all enjoy the band, still, in their own way. Maynard has other creative outlets now so he isn't as intensely frustrated with the pace of the writing and I think he still gets a lot out of that scene. I remember his answer to one of those questions in the Revolver article---something like "Do you still enjoy playing for huge crowds?"... to which he replied "Who needs Viagra?" I'm only speculating, but I think he's hooked for the long-haul. As long as there are tons of people that love Tool and going to shows I think the band will remain. They started by doing it for the music--there was a lot of integrity in how the band operated. With that mindset, they'll continue to go because they know they create some incredible music together.N.Y.H.C. wrote:my original post wasn't exactly a baby-rant, it just seems like the reality of the situation. these guys much like everyone else in the industry (who don't own their own publishing) get paid by touring. it seems difficult when looking at the most recent news. but I do think these life changes will bring much more creativity to the table, I mean, being a first time dad? damn, that's pretty powerful. saved a few of my friends lives, literally. this might delay things significantly but I see these guys coming back re-energized for years to come.

UPDATE: CONFIRMATION... It's a drum-tech. Well, closer maybe, as the child is a male. Not to say that a female can't be a drum-tech...

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread
This might be THE best ever performance of Sweat i've ever heard
Re: Random Tool Social Media thread
I think that I taped that Core Sound Binaurals > Sharp MS-702. Very first arena show that I ever recorded. Not sure how many sources of that show are out there-08/23/98 Key Arena Seattle, WA . I know that there was someone that shot video of this show too-I have a copy of that one somewhere.Ettan wrote:This might be THE best ever performance of Sweat i've ever heard

Fuck this recording was annoying, but you can just make out Danny jamming with Primus last night.

Hopefully some better recordings/vids emerge, because looks like it was a cool show.

I'm not very savvy at making movies but i just worked out tonight how to slap some shit together. I recorded the Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne 27th April 2013 concert and love the jam they inserted after Sober. I think the recording came out pretty clean.
Personally, i believe this jam will be part of something on the new album. Well i hope so anyway...
