There has to be a purpose to this show, right?

There is. They're playing music for their fans in exchange for money.Ettan wrote:There has to be a purpose to this show, right?

Money and it's close to where May Jay lives.Ettan wrote:There has to be a purpose to this show, right?
Be cool if it was part of promoting some new release but let's not hold our breaths.

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread
Well i see no verbiage saying "only show this year" which if i remember right Rivers Edge was announced that way...
I think both Tool and Primus fit in the Riot Fest lineup very well, and Coheed is already there...
If it all works out i might get to see Tool twice this year

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread
think it's an opportunity to make some $ while not having to go far, another set of their "best hits" is what I'm expecting, regardless still plan on going and having a good time

I would hold off until an announcement from an official Tool source before reading into any verbiage.MobileVortex wrote:Well i see no verbage saying "only show this year" which if i remember right Rivers Edge was announced that way...

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread
I'm not sure the rationale, but I can only imagine playing one show, even with a reduced stage show, is a big money loser. The overhead would require multiple shows. That is, if making a profit is the goal.

You know exactly what I meant by that. A single show out of nowhere just doesn't makes sense. As ravenpig said we still have the "wait for it" announcement.UndKeineZwEier wrote:There is. Re: Random Tool Social Media thread
I hope you're right, but what good reason do we have to think the festival announcement wasn't the "wait for it...."? Is it just because the show date isn't posted on toolband yet?Ettan wrote:You know exactly what I meant by that. A single show out of nowhere just doesn't makes sense. Re: Random Tool Social Media thread
It's a show in Arizona, near where Maynard lives and works, with Primus, who are good friends with Tool, on Halloween.
That makes sense to me.
It's worth considering what Hellboy had to say earlier as well.

I'm not saying that there isn't more to this, but I do think it is completely possible that this is just a one off deal.hellboy wrote:Speaking of contracts though, it's no unusual for festival headliners to be booked a year in advance, so it could just be the case that Tool thought they'd be ready release an album and tour by then, but never got that far and are still contractually obliged to do so. Nor is the financial penalty for pulling out worth it (and/or the pay for the show is pretty good - festivals tend to be easy money for bands).

I'm leaning towards what you said, but i'm still hoping there's something bigger to be announced. I think we all are.. Cmon Tool gods, deliver!
Re: Random Tool Social Media thread
Toolband.com confirms show.... no other news.Ettan wrote:I'm leaning towards what you said, but i'm still hoping there's something bigger to be announced. I think we all are.. Cmon Tool gods, deliver!
Just dont buy on Ticketmaster.
Re: Random Tool Social Media thread
Well.. Now i'm going to Arizona I guess.
Re: Random Tool Social Media thread
youre too nice.... Tool will tour when the new album comes out. So you will be able to see them live again at some point. I cant justify giving them more money for the shit they are dragging us through. They need to give the fans something new. The last time Tool released music my son wasnt even born.... hes in 2nd grade now.Ettan wrote:Well.. Now i'm going to Arizona I guess.

When 10,000 Days came out my son wasn't even born yet, now he's still not born. What the fuck, Tool? Where's my son?
And you too, Kittaan? I've been waiting a long time for that kid you promised me.

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread
The more I think about it, the less likely I think it is that there is anything more to this. October is not an awfully long ways away, if they're planning any sort of tour I think they would have announced it.
Although, I guess it is possible that they might be holding off on announcing a tour, for a bit, so as not to overshadow the festival announcement.
I think some sort of Salival-like curveball release is possible, but I think now would've been a good time to announce it. That said, knowing how Tool works they could want it to be out by October, but aren't announcing it because it isn't close enough to being finished to put a date on it. Which isn't exactly encouraging, given how the Opiate reissue was handled, it's quite possible this thing won't be out until October 2016!

With all the delays, these guys have put themselves under a huge amount of pressure to put out a good/great album. I mean, imagine if they finally finish this record and it **shudders** sucks?

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread
It seems likely that if Puscifer were the unannounced band for Sunday, it would have been announced today. I don't know why they would announce Tool but keep Puscifer secret. I think they would actually do it the other way around.
