yeah he's the only one who wasn't impressed by the Revenant, pure nonsense. watch that first for sure. Hateful Eight was a very different type of Tarantino movie but has his stamp on it for sure. his next movie, allegedly, is going to be a Bonnie and Clyde-esque adventure set in the 1930's in Australia of all places. sounds interesting.

The Revenant is basically Avatar if Avatar had the pretensions of being high art.

It looked great, but look any deeper and there ain't much there.

If anyone is yet to see Sicario....it's out on blu ray next week.

Grab a copy - highly HIGHLY recommended.

I just watched The Tall Man, it's surprisingly a lot better than it looks. Definitely recommend checking it out.

The Revenant was pretty good, I couldn't not recommend seeing it. I'd like to see Hateful 8 though, but may download it.

great movie, can't agree more. any movie where Jon Bernthal plays basically a cameo role is stacked with talent.

Taylor Sheridan wrote the screenplay, his first by the way. imagine that? his follow up is in post production it's called "Comancheria" check out the cast and plot on Wiki:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comancheria_%28film%29

the director of Sicario, Denis Villeneuve is working on some crazy alien movie with a stacked cast. plus he just entered into the pre-production stages with Harrison Ford and Ryan Gossling on an untitled Blade Runner sequel with Ridley Scott writing the screenplay.

these dudes are working it big time. good for them and great for us.

Watched Journey To The West the other night. The story is all over the place, and there were sections that just left me scratching my head, but there was something interesting in seeing a non-"western" story unfold. The cgi was also hit or miss, but there's just enough warrant a casual recommendation. Don't expect too much, and maybe you'll be entertained. 6/10

Finished watching Daredevil the other night. It was good, for a tv show. I was expecting something a bit more from it though, primarily because of how it was released. I thought for sure they'd somehow take advantage of the all-at-once release schedule and treat it more like a mini-series as opposed to a standard broadcast show. Hopefully they'll use that more effectively in the second season.

Also recently watched, The Double. I liked it. Felt like a combination of Brazil and Enemy.

Daredevil started off pretty strong and then lost some steam as it went on.

Not really. The show was a bit more grounded in the beginning when he was dealing with the straight ground level shit, but once it started getting to the superhero shit it started to lose me a bit. I don't think it was bad show and there were some good episodes near the end, it's just the direction they took that I thought was kind of weak.

Also spoilering spoiler near the end was some weak shit. Spoiler spoiler was a good spoiler and could have done more for the series. Especially since they don't really have a lot good spoilering spoilers to pull from anyways.

It took 24 years to make a OJ movie and they come up with this???

John Travolta as Shapiro is so laughable.

The Revenant

Not much to say that hasn't already been said.

Beautiful to look at - minimal and ethereal. Haunting and poetic. Visceral and bloody American Gothic.

Probably a bit better than what I expected going in.

Which Way Home. A 2009 documentary that follows several children attempting to get into the United States from Mexico and Central America, primarily by riding atop trains. I'd been meaning to check this out for a few years and finally got around to doing so. Definitely worth a watch.

Living in Emergeny: the 2008 documentary that follows a number of doctors in Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF or Doctors Without Borders). This one's been in my queue for a while, and I'm glad I finally got around to watching it. It's both soul crushing and inspiring.
