Random Tool Social Media thread
Re: Random Tool Social Media thread
Not sure anyone has any realistic expectations that there will be new material at the festival shows.

- You like noisy music?
- Yes. The louder the better. Stops me from thinking.
- You don't like to think? What do you like?
- Never thought about it.

Awesome! Can we please not shoot down a new tune Live already. I’d at least like some hope for it!

It's pretty short, and I didn't like the political undertones

A hundred bucks says they blame Trump for everything on this confounded new fangled album thing.
But I for one won't be phased.

I've been waiting 12 years for a release date. Awesome news theyre posting that recording is starting but ill contain my excitement til I hear it's completed.
At this point I hope they don't play anything new live (I sincerely doubt they will) anytime ive been in attendance for a new song from a band, its always a little bit flat for me.

my android phone (hopefully misinterpretes) displays this emoji on Adams Instagram post...... DVD? what does it look like on an iphone?
Re: Random Tool Social Media thread
Personally I don't think there will be any obviously political lyrics on the album, aside from the odd calling the kettle black or monkey reference.Calfium Jay wrote:hellboy wrote:It's pretty short, and I didn't like the political undertones

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread
well the emoji database just shows a disc without the letters "dvd" below it.
so adam might have just picked an emoji that looks like a disc without knowing that it was a DVD

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread
Does not say DVD on my PC screen. Fact is, CDs are outdated, and the emoji for it is probably buried at the end of the list. That said, the CD emoji for twitter is identical to what he posted, however it is silver. I agree with Hellboy and Lucas, he just picked an image that looks like a disc. Nothing to read into.

That was the NAMM convention in January
Re: Random Tool Social Media thread
We're living in good times. I've always wondered how it feels when Tool is about to release a new album. Feels good.
Re: Random Tool Social Media thread
How does the recording process work for Tool?? Looks like they are in the studio this week... is it just the 3 guys? They officially record music then send it to MJK for vocals to be added? I know they go through a period where they alter the music to match maynards lyrics... would that step already have happened prior to the studio? Anyone know?
Re: Random Tool Social Media thread
Adam said last month that May Jay is with them for 3 weeks this month.
And how the fuck do some of you all know what the fucking wall at this dude’s place looks like??

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread
That room looks too big to be the drum/tracking room at JHOC (Joe's House of Compression). Could be though, who knows.
Regarding their recording process, it typically goes: drums first, then bass, followed by guitar, vocals at the end. I'm sure there are variations in this for a band with resources like Tool has. But the drum tracks will all be laid down first for the most part, with the other two playing along while he tracks it.

Re: Random Tool Social Media thread
Then again... more bands are tracking things "live" now. Intronaut did their last album (and the Cloudkicker "Live" album) this way.
Re: Random Tool Social Media thread
I agree with Joeypants on both counts. It looks like the rehearsal room at Joes, not the drum room. If that's the case, they may be recording some parts of the album 'live' with all 4 at once.
