The Simpsons season premiere is tonight. That crossover with Family Guy is also tonight. Definitely going to be muting the commercials when I watch The Simpsons tonight.

Why? So you can sit in awkward silence?

I'd rather sit in silence than listen to a bunch of promos for a Family Guy/Simpsons crossover. I have shit I can do during the commercials anyways.

Not sure how I feel about the latest Family Guy episode, sure my childhood & adolescence was raped, but I still managed a chuckle.

I just watched "The Rover" this weekend. It definitely kept me guessing and intrigued throughout. All in all, I enjoyed it and would recommend.

I have the Woody Allen boxset at home which contains virtually everything this undisputed genius made up until Shadows And Fog (1992).

Stardust Memories was one of the last films in the boxset that I finally got around to watching.

I SHOULD have been the first.

Absolutely amazing film - I'd say unequivocally that it's Woody's "Fellini" moment. The trials and tribulations of the auteur. Lov, life and navel gazing on the celebrity circuit.

As an American film-maker, Woody's about as "European" as they come.

9/10

Holy FUCK, Gone Girl is goddamn incredible. One of the most shocking and stunning things Fincher has ever done. Cannot stress enough to stay unspoiled as you can and go in cold. Goddamn.

Had you read the book? Just curious if it was the adaptation/execution of the book or the story/plot itself that really drew you in?

I really enjoyed TGWTDT. I thought it was a great film. I never read the book though.

I'm familiar with the Gone Girl story however and imagine it will be a slick film, but not sure how different the experience will be from having read the book.

I knew almost nothing going in. Expected a fairly standard procedural. So yeah: holy fucking shit. The plot and more importantly, Fincher's execution of it is what did me in. I mean... it's everything. Just top notch filmmaking from all points. Actors are all amazing, but Pike probably deserves some Oscar attention for this. I would have no problems with her getting a nomination, her work is stunning.

Watched Edge of Tomorrow last night. Good movie, though no classic by any means. A few of the plot points seemed a little over contrived for my liking, which is no huge surprise I guess. 7/10

Gone Girl

Liked. But didn't ultimately go where I was hoping. Last 15 minutes or so were tedious.

Give it a low 7.

The twist? Yeah....but don't go expecting anything of "Hitchcock-ian" proportions.

Just finished season 2 of The Bridge. Very ambitious season of television structurally. Not that it was fully successful, but overall very interesting and definitely worth a watch. The first half of the season was a little aimless, I guess. I mean, everything had a purpose but it was hard to see where everything was heading. It was never boring or uninteresting, but I didn't really get invested until about the sixth or seventh episode when it started pulling the pieces together. Once it started coming together though, I was totally invested. I watched the last 3 episodes and I was fully committed.

It was not an excellent season of television, but it was well written, acted, and directed. I'm optimistic that with a lot of the storylines and characters leftover from the first season have been taken care of, that the show can really pull itself and become the great show that I know it can be.

What a coincidence, I've been marathoning it myself, almost dropped it towards the end of Season 1, so fucking stupid but it's picked up the pace.

Up to episode 2 season 2, gotta love that RUSH reference. "Dude, 2112 was okay, I guess"
