I don't. There was a reason why I thought it meant there probably wouldn't be an album, but I don't remember what it was.hellboy wrote:I'm not sure you know what you're saying
Anyways I have a Mastodon single and a High On Fire single that I got from the Adult Swim Singles Program and it seems those singles coincided with album releases. So it's probably a good sign.

High on Fire sucks. Please don't ever mention them in the same sentence with SLEEP again.

Re: Random Music News
http://metalhammer.teamrock.com/news/20 ... in-2-yearsAxl Rose's former manager believes a Guns n'Roses classic lineup reunion is no more than two years away.
And that's despite a moment five years ago when guitarist Slash tried to meet the singer, but wasn't allowed in.
The topic of the former colleagues settling their differences regularly arises, with both having said they're content to live their lives without the involvement of the other. But Craig Duswalt, who looked after the singer's affairs during GnR's Use Your Illusion era, believes Duff McKagan's recent stints with the current GnR allows the bassist to act as an ambassador.
Duswalt tells ABC: "Duff is paving the way to open the gates again. Axl and Duff are really getting along well at the concerts, so there's an opening.
"About five years ago Slash went to Axl's house one day – and Axl didn't want to see him. We thought for a while, 'Yes!' but then it just got ugly again and we thought, 'There's no way.'"
The exec says he knows of "a specific thing" that caused the collapse of the pair's relationship, although he won't discuss it. But he adds: "There were also differences in music; Slash wanted to do more hard rock stuff and Axl wanted to do more ballads."
Duswalt accepts things aren't good between the ex-bandmates. "I know for a fact they hate each other right now – it's bad," he admits. "Axl is a loyal guy; you get on his bad side and people don't come back. But Slash hand he were so close. We all have a feeling it will happen.
"And it's going to happen in the next two years – there's an opening because of Duff playing with Axl."

Re: Random Music News
Ehhh I don't know if that'll happen. Axl seems pretty set in his ways to go back now. You can make the "money" case but both of those guys make/have made enough (I'm assuming) to not be swayed by that. Plus it would've happened by now if money was a motivation for them.
Although I am curious to hear what'd they come up with, I doubt it would be anything great.

read an article about that last night ... apparently they've even attempted to contact Corey Taylor (ugh) ... anywho, When the Kite String Pops is an absolute classic within my collection and therefore, no Dax = no Acid Bath, particularly pertaining to playing those 'classics'.ziggy23 wrote:

Yeah, fuck Acid Bath with a new vocalist. It's not like he died or something.
Re: Random Music News
Sammy Duet wrote: “In response to the post by ‘Acidbath The Bayou Kid’ on June 3rd, 2014, I’d like to clarify a few things: [Drummer] Jimmy Kyle created that post without prior discussion with [guitarist] Mike Sanchez or myself [guitarist, Sammy Duet]. ACID BATH is not looking for a vocalist. There is no ACID BATH without [late bassist] Audie Pitre, so there will never be ‘new’ ACID BATH material.
“Currently, most of the surviving members of ACID BATH — Jimmy, Mike, and myself — have been considering the possibility of doing some shows in the future, as an ACID BATH tribute band, but nothing has been set in stone, and it is still just an idea. Unfortunately, [vocalist] Dax Riggs declines to be a part of such a tribute. We respect Dax and his decision.
“If we decide to put together an ACID BATH tribute band, the vocalist will be carefully chosen, but it is way too early to discuss choosing a vocalist at this time.
“I’d like to thank the loyal, diehard ACID BATH fans for their years of support, not just while ACID BATH was together, but for supporting us in all of our individual music projects.”

SCREAMING TREES/PEARL JAM/R.E.M. PROJECT TO RELEASE ALBUM
Tuatara, a music project consisting of Barrett Martin (Screaming Trees, Mad Season, Walking Papers), Peter Buck (R.E.M.), and Mike McCready (Pearl Jam, Mad Season), have returned to release their first record in 6 years.
The double album, “Underworld,” will be released in August via Sunyata Records and was mixed by Jack Endino. The group, which also includes Justin Harwood, Skerik, and Luna as members, consider this their seventh album.
Just recently, Tuatara released “The Skeleton Getdown,” a track off the upcoming album. Martin described the song while stating, “the mellow, groove-centric song was initially inspired by a particular beat, which is loosely built upon John Bonham’s ‘Crunge’ beat… Skerik started riffing that melody over the top of the beat with a baritone sax, and Peter Buck had this great wah wah sound dialed in on his guitar. Scott McCaughey played that funky Wurlitzer piano.”

Re: Random Music News
There are very few bass players that can't be replaced, at least from a technical level. Not sure Audie is one of them. In the case of Acid Bath the vocals add much more to the band than the bass playing.
Either way, sound like a lame attempt to wring some money out of their fans, so good luck to them I guess. I don't think they should waste their time.

Re: Random Music News
Dax lyrics and vocals are essential to be ACID BATH ... my gripe with the bass player, although I'd generally agree with you, is that he was the songwriter in this circumstance. So no writer AND no vocalist ... this would be another band, right?hellboy wrote:There are very few bass players that can't be replaced, at least from a technical level. Destroy only copy of new Wu-Tang Album
Purchase the only copy of their upcoming double album "The Wu – Once Upon a Time In Shaolin." I would like to purchase and destroy it.
I hate that the WU has devolved into such self-righteous assholes. This would be a tremendous idea if all the proceeds went to poor artists or cancer research or Autism or something. Instead it goes to the pockets of artists who have the entire world at their ear. Music and visual art are art. Art should be shared with the world. Especially to poor people and the culturally disadvantaged. I don't see how this project isn't mutually inclusive to denying that this work is art and should therefore be destroyed.
I will happily destroy this album in public spectacle and never listen to it. I have listened to this group since I was able to pick an album from the CD rack. But these m&%f$#s done went to far.
There will be a destruction ceremony that will be broadcast live via the intertubes. This ceremony will serve as a work of performance art. It will be scripted, filmed for posterity, and made available for download worldwide.

Joe Duplantier talks about the new Gojira album.
[BBvideo 560,340][/BBvideo]
"We record demos, we jam, we work really hard… super hard on the songs. We wanna put out our greatest album. We do things a little differently. We dump songs, we dump riffs, which we never did before. [In the past] we would prepare 12 songs, get in the studio and record them just exactly as they are on the demos. We decided to do it differently this time. So [on previous albums] we would push each song to its maximum until it becomes really good. But this time we wanna select them right away. [If we come up a riff that sounds slightly] boring [from the start], we [get rid of it] instead of [spending time] trying to make it more interesting. So we have at least 20 songs — like, the main ideas, the core of each one. But we still need, now, to work on putting all the stuff together, but we have a lot of material that we really love this time. It's kind of challenging for us, also, 'cause the style is changing a little bit. We have some Pantera-ish kind of riffs, which is kind of new for us. But we wanna… Because we want to… We want [the riffs] to be a little punchier sometimes."
http://www.blabbermouth.net/news/gojira ... -of-riffs/"Me. I wanna produce it. I have to do it myself somehow. It makes me feel great. I love it. That's what I do. It's what I like. I wanna do it. So everybody's, like, 'Oh, you should work with a big producer.' I don't think so. It could be a very personal sound, it could be a very direct dialog with the fans, without the interaction of anyone. Even if it's a great person, this person is still between us and the fans."
