I dug it, but surprised you and Tyson are so into it. I hear a lot of Cog in the Vox, but also some Seal to be honest. The drummer is good.

Good to see they're not going down the path of doing songs that sound like Cog. That said, it wasn't that amazing, but was a good improvement over the first shitty track they leaked.

It sounded to me like modern day genesis.

Ah, that IS the vocalist from Cog. I actually didn't know that, but clearly why it sounded like him. ;)

I've listened a couple more times and it's quite good. I agree that the first single is not as good. Hope the album is good, I'll check it out.

That got me jonesing for some Cog and it's been a while. Happy to find a full live show that I've never seen. Never got to see this band live, one among many that I'll never see, what a shame.

Excellent show. Pro shot with great sound.

I shot and edited this and can safely say this is all audio from the live show. We recorded 32 audio tracks which was then mix/mastered by Lucius and Forrester Savell. So happy to of been a part of this. ENJOY.

One of the slickest live bands I've ever seen.

First time I ever saw them they were supporting Amen and SOAD, only had one EP released and blew both out of the fucking water.

SOAD were terrible.

Jealous. Were you at this show (or tour)? Did you watch the vid? Really really good. I'm on my second time through. Their harmony vocals always kill me, but I didn't realize they all sang. Thought it was just dubbed. They are amazing live.

Nah, I've seen them 4 times, even snuck into a soundcheck (well just walked in) in Canberra when they were touring the new normal, they didn't care, saw them play 3 songs, just me and their roadies. The band didn't give a fuck and seemed pleased to be playing to a fan.

That memory will never leave me.

hellboy wrote:Well, it's definitely not better than Angel Dust or even KFAD, but we'll have to agree to disagree there.
KFAD is easily my least favorite Faith No More album, behind even Album of the Year.
At the time it came out, I had already been a big fan of FNM for years and already had a firm, established concept of the band - one that included Jim Martin on guitar. I was able to make the jump from Introduce Yourself to The Real Thing to Angel Dust - this seemed like a brave evolution - a jokey band demonstrating some aggression and more serious art. There was a lot of anticipation for their next album. I remember driving a couple hours to a record store to get King for a Day. Somehow my friend was able to buy it on vinyl before the cd was released. I listened to it a lot. But in the end it was clear that it did not continue the previous evolutionary pattern. In fact, it was a major step back into being a more generic "eclectic" album. Instead of really saying anything bold, it was more like a boring mix tape of styles with the familiar mike patton voice and roddy boddum keyboard sound. The guitars were completely generic, faceless alt-rock.
The previous concept of the band at the time of the real thing was: what do you get when you combine a metal guitarist, funk bass player, new wave keyboardist, and a white guy rapping?! And to everybody's surprise, even though that's not exactly what it was, it was actually really good and kind or revolutionary. Each band member was an essential character, representing a different style facet of the band. They could do stoopid, they could pull off almost sincere slightly off kilter versions of unexpected cover songs that nobody on MTV would ever dream of. They could do whatever the fuck they wanted.
They lost that on King for a Day. Dumb horn sections and funk/soul on star AD. Keyboardless alt rock on digging the grave with insincere sounding vocal performance.
this is almost the kind of musical eclecticism that would appeal to Dave Matthews band fans, meaning variety = good.
what a fucking letdown.
I saw them play on that tour.
Album of the Year gets special credit simply for existing. I was shocked that even ever came out. They had long since lost their momentum.

I saw Cog back in 2006 at the Palace and I was completely blown away by them. Amazing maestros and huge sound for a three piece band.
