I'm just curious, do you play any instruments?
Not really. At least, not where anyone else can hear.

seen them live many, many times and rare is a show (at least pre-FI, only saw two since) when he doesn't fuck something up. notoriously on lateralus, but also on jambi solos often, etc.

why take up 15 minutes with something they'll barely get through, when we can get (almost) two other songs during that time?

Great point. Play ‘The Grudge’.
Adam is precise when he isn’t.
If they don’t play 7empest/6empest on this next tour- oh well, whatever, nevermind.
‘Pneuma’, however, should remain!

Adam fucking up is kind of the charm of seeing them live, you know you're not listening to a backing track

All members of Tool are great musicians, I've never considered the band to be a super tight one though.

7empest deserves a chance live, even if it's for album only tours like they played Rosetta Stoned & 10k Days.

Everybody saw that clip of Danny going wrong during Jambi this year?

Nah, it was the other three guys not anticipating his improvisation.

You guys are discussing Tool weren't able to play a song like "7empest" live?

Either you have no trust in the abilities of four professional musicians or you have a very strange perception of that single song.

Nah, no one really thinks that at all.

They are able to play Tempest.
Precisely? Who knows yet.
I have a strange perspective on ‘Pneuma’; Pneuma melts 3/4 of
my brain cells and heart.

In fairness, if they were playing standard 4/4 songs, they'd be pretty tight . It's not like their music is easy to perform as one unit.

As in they had 13 years to rehearse it?

they also toured almost every year anyway. nothing to do with not being practiced at all.

It’s a possibility. Isn’t that a riff Adam wrote before Lateralus?

One of the riffs used was from the Undertow era.

Adam & Sylvia Massy spent years going through the tapes to try and find it and was one of the major reasons for the albums delay.

I’m glad they found it. Sweet riff!
It’d be a great song to open the show on their upcoming tour.

Here's a wrinkle for you:

Wednesday, January 22: TOOL play in Dallas

Sunday, January 26: Grammy Awards in Los Angeles (Staples Center)

Tuesday, January 28: TOOL play in Atlanta

7empest has been nominated for 'Best Metal Performance' and TOOL aren't playing any shows in between their Dallas and Atlanta gigs. Wouldn't it be cool if the band were playing at the Grammys? Fear Inoculum (the song) has also been nominated for 'Best Rock Song' but wouldn't it be awesome if they won an award, or both, and/or PLAYED at the Grammys?

Just sayin' / just speculating... :)

I'd be pretty surprised if they played at the Grammys, but wouldn't be a huge surprise if the gap was there so they could claim the award (should they get it).

I doubt The fucking Grammys are going to slot in 15 minutes for a prog rock performance in this day and age.

But fuck yeah they actually should, melt the faces of those industry fucks.

Yeah I assumed that gap was left just for them to collect the award/s in person if they won BUT it would be really cool if they finally agreed to play at the Grammys! Assuming they've been asked and assuming the organisers/network is okay with them playing a 10 minute song.

Knowing our luck as an audience, they'd probably go to commercials halfway through the song...

Another option is they just play Schism live on the show (6 mins, no expletives). AC/DC did a new song (Rock or Bust) and then an old song (Highway to Hell) when they played the Grammys back in 2015.

Slim fuck all chance of them playing grammys imo. They'll probably get Taylor swift more than anything.

They don't even broadcast those awards anymore.
