Probably the MOST successful act in history (even more so than AC DC) whose entire discography is completely and utterly interchangeable.


Galloping guitar intros - check

Rousing choruses two octaves higher than the verses - check

Song lyrics referencing major historical figure or battle - check

Song lyric that starts out with : "In a distant land" and / or "In a distant time.." - check

Bruce Dickinson belting out "A time will cooooooooooome..." at some point - check

Extended and completely forgettable twin guitar solos - check

Subdued ballad reflecting on troubled times / troubled thoughts - check

Legion of salivating metalhead fanbase who buy everything these guys shit out - check

Tuneless, riffless, hookless "epic" centrepiece at least 12 minutes long - check

I like how it admits it's ranked lower only because of the specific genre they're talking about.

You know I honestly didn't even read the entry. It does make a pretty good case for why they decided to include it.

Why that Sumac album and the new Minsk album are on there I'll never know.

I read that the other day. Some unusual choices there (including Ænima) but they justified them well. I can see that some people might get the genre confused with post-rock though.

No way Sumac should be on the list, nor should Palms.

I was going to check it out, but only the first track is streaming on Bandcamp. So I guess I'll wait.

If you're going to put your album on Bandcamp stream the entire thing, not just one track. I know I'm more likely to buy an album I've listened to than an album where I've only heard one track.
