I think you're taking the term 'thanking" a little too personally and literally there man.
No idea why but assumed he hadn't been on board since that far back. Man If that's case , our mate Junior would have seen some incredible shows!!ziggy23 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 01, 2019 1:13 pmSince 1996 I guess.Busty McCracken wrote: ↑Thu Aug 01, 2019 1:10 pm How long have you been touring with the band for Jnr?
I'm not 100% sure about 1996, you better ask Hellboy, as far as I remember he posted an interview with Junior a couple of years ago.Busty McCracken wrote: ↑Thu Aug 01, 2019 1:18 pmNo idea why but assumed he hadn't been on board since that far back. Yep but I saw an opportunity for a little dig and took it.Busty McCracken wrote: ↑Thu Aug 01, 2019 1:15 pm I think you're taking the term 'thanking" a little too personally and literally there man.
I don't know... I can see a rant coming up about the choice of font they decided on in the liner notesM0G wrote: ↑Thu Aug 01, 2019 1:30 pmYep but I saw an opportunity for a little dig and took it.Busty McCracken wrote: ↑Thu Aug 01, 2019 1:15 pm I think you're taking the term 'thanking" a little too personally and literally there man.
I obviously get what you are on about. Most of the time I look for the positives. With Tool, after 13 years, not happening. When the new album is out, and if it is good, then I won't have anything further negative to say. Back catalogue will be out digitally. New album will be out. Really nothing left to troll about and even if there was I might be a cunt but I am not so awful that I would continue to fuck around with people when they are excited and listening to a new album and wanting to talk about it.
Yeah, 1996.Busty McCracken wrote: ↑Thu Aug 01, 2019 1:18 pmNo idea why but assumed he hadn't been on board since that far back. If you're still online Junior , mind if I ask if there's any particular shows over the years that have stood out as favourites where everything was just on for that particular evening?

Interesting tidbit here junior, thanks for that. Perhaps he was thinking of the name of the guitar.junior wrote: ↑Thu Aug 01, 2019 1:09 pmHe might have mis-spoke.Boldizar wrote: ↑Thu Aug 01, 2019 4:42 amIt was an error. The Pot is being played in drop D standard down a whole step to C for Maynard to "cut loose to". The other song he's referring to is the one they were playing which, similar to Prison Sex, has the lowest string tuned to B, but also the second lowest string to E, that being Parabol/a.limeygringo wrote: ↑Wed Jul 31, 2019 9:55 pm
Prison Sex has always been Drop B. That comment has got me curious, but they definitely didn't play it in Europe when this interview happened.
Back when Prison Sex was still regularly in the show (the 90's) Adam usually toured with 3 Les Pauls. 2 Silverbursts (main and spare), and a 3rd Les Paul with a different finish. It had more of a tan/orange hue to it, but I don't think it was a Sunburst, unless it had severely faded. I think it was just a natural finish of some kind. I'm sure there must be a photo of it somewhere online.
That 3rd one was often informally referred to as the "Prison Sex" guitar, because it was tuned to that B tuning, and may have had different gauge strings on it, as well.
When Parabol/a started getting played in the set on the Lateralus tour, the same guitar was used for that song.
There was a period of time when neither song was in the set ("10,000 Days" tour?), and the "Prison Sex" guitar didn't even come on the road.
At some point the alternate tuned "The Pot" and "Parabol/a" came back, but I don't know if he's using the "Prison Sex" guitar for either of those or if there is just a dedicated Silverburst in the rack for them. I haven't been looking that close, to be honest.
Given that informal name, maybe Adam was just referring to that name more so than the actual song.
Thanks for the info, Junior! I'll say from what I remember seeing, I saw Adam bust out the yellow-orange Les Paul for a detuned Pot. I distinctly remember that when I saw one of the LA 2010 shows. Maybe it's changed since then.junior wrote: ↑Thu Aug 01, 2019 1:09 pmHe might have mis-spoke.Boldizar wrote: ↑Thu Aug 01, 2019 4:42 amIt was an error. They said their catalogue I think it is safe to say the new album will be available digitally. If by some insane fluke it was not I would not purchase it. Simple.
