No. The Hunter was nothing like Foo Fighters. At least...that's not the lasting impression it made on me.

OMATS however....yikes!

funny you said that. I heard a little Foo Fighters in there. well done. also a little Queens Of The Stone Age. not necessarily bad things. melodic prog metal. digging this album, it's getting better every time.

It's not the tonal delivery so much as the general structure of the songs. That's my main gripe on the hunter; essentially every song sounded like a cover version of foo or queens, etc. Funny seeing NY mention queens now, too.

let me recap, I am very happy with this release. fuck what I was saying about it should've been an EP. there are two songs on this entire release I could do without and I will be playing the shit out of them over the next few days to try and determine why. good track arrangement as well, I'm not sure how much thought they put into that but it flows very well.

I keep hearing their songs on the radio, it's like they are turning their "formula" into pop songs.

Ugh.

What the fuck are they thinking.

They've gone with a more "conventional" structure on a lot of the songs, kind of, but that's the only similarity I can see.

Couldn't tell you, but quite likely ... Apart from this forum, most people I know that ever bothered with them stopped listening to them after that record

Well that's a bit odd. It's not like their next few albums are terrible, or even that different. Your friends must be extremely harsh critics, or quite lazy.

probably both ... honestly, I know a lot more people that never liked them in general and admittedly, I've never been a massive fan, mostly just thought they' were different and decent enough

I had a copy of the new album in my hand on the weekend. Thought about buying it. Then I put it down and picked up some Sonic Youth instead.

And all was good....

Listening to it now actually, up to Asleep at the deep, it's pretty mellow and I'd say mature sound from the band.

Not sure if I'd say it's good, some parts have me jammin.

finally listened ... three times straight through ... nothing really to report ... no real stand out for me ... I'll let it simmer and settle and likely give it a go again in a few, but I'm fairly certain this record is not going to make and impact into my usual listening habits. It's pretty straight forward, which in and of itself isn't a turn off, except that in this case, I find it pretty boring as a whole package.
