I never thought I would hear another Dre album before Tool's new album.
Album from Bothers Collateral up on Bandcamp. From memory Danny & his synth is on one of these tracks (I can't remember which one) and a bunch of Melvins regulars also appear:

Danny Carey did some additional synth on 'J.R. Richards' and 'Green Is The New Red'

Slipknot's bassist comes to sudden realization that he's playing bass for Slipknot, is immediately rushed to hospital.
You have to be on drugs to want to play in Slipknot I'd imagine.

I think I actually checked out the bassist's other band one time and they were actually OK. Nothing great, nothing I'm interested in returning to, but it wasn't terrible either.
I think they actually opened for Mastodon last year.

Relapse Records announce the signing of experimental, instrumental noise-jazz trio Brain Tentacles. Consisting of drummer Dave Witte (Municipal Waste, Burnt By The Sun, Discordance Axis, etc.), saxophonist Bruce Lamont (Corrections House, Yakuza, Bloodiest) and bassist Aaron Dallison (Keelhaul), Brain Tentacles is a journey in improvised and structured sound that will consume, evolve and then regurgitate ambiguous noise upon its listeners.
New Battles album will be out Sept 18 called La Di Da Di.
Interview and first track can be found on Rolling Stone. Allegedly it's an instrumental album unlike the last which was full of guest vocals. Not sure I feel that I'll enjoy a instrumental only Battles album, but we'll see.

A couple of weeks ago they broadcast that song and three other new tracks from a live studio session they filmed. It was awesome. Bring on the no-vocals, I say. I always dug their instrumentation way more than any vocals in their songs anyway.

What a good year this is turning out to be for new releases.

I was thinking the same thing. Not to mention all the good small label/independent/etc stuff that has come out. 2016 shaping up good so far as well with the mighty Meshuggah planning to pummel the world into submission with another masterpiece.
Speaking of albums, haven't had a chance to talk to you about Steve Wilson's latest. What do you think? I was a bit disappointed. It isn't bad....I mean it is Steven Fucking Wilson...but.....Compared to his other albums it is significantly weaker in my opinion.

I tend to agree with you judging purely on the record itself. I dig a lot of it, but other songs didn't hit the same heights as his past work.
The two factors that come to mind:
1) SW is extremely prolific and unwilling to compromise his artistic vision for what others might want to hear. He takes risks and follows his muse. Eventually, you're going to have some of your loyal fans not dig a particular direction that takes you. Perfectly valid, and I hope he doesn't alter this.
2) This is the only one of his solo efforts I wasn't able to see supported live, and I'm sure that would influence my opinion. He is one of the best live acts I've ever seen, and that's coming from someone who has been seeing live shows consistently for 4 decades now. (or if you ask RP, it's been more like 6 decades).
Whether or not this was a lull in his output, or I just didn't get where he was going, I have nothing but respect for what he does, and can't wait to A) see him live again and B) see what comes next.

Agreed on all points. There are still those awesome SW moments sprinkled in the album so I don't think it is bad. He definitely had a theme and he wanted to explore it. I am with you on him sticking to his guns and making albums he wants to make. Most of the time the net result is a win for us. Not sure if you noticed but he is planning on releasing an EP next year of unreleased/unfinished tracks from the Hands sessions.

No, I hadn't seen that. Looking forward to hearing it. Sure wish I could have seen it live. Every tour has been stellar, and you get so much from the current album each time... kills me that I just missed it by days.
Have you ever seen SW or PT live? If not, serious Bucket List item.

Nope. Very much a bucket list item. Next time he is around I am going to do everything in my power to take a day off if it falls mid week (which seems to be every damn time a band I like comes around)
