This is what most of you here don't seem to understand.

Sounded like a tormented soul w/ violin accompaniment.
All I heard is the same song as any other band.
Melodic, as in if you plunked the notes on a piano it would sound like every other 3 chord song with a bridge, and desperately trying to sound busy underneath by using 1/16th notes throughout, giving the sense of speed to the simplistic 4/4 sig. And with some unintelligible vocals too...

this is the definition of epic. full orchestra about half way though.
I absolutely loved illumination theory, it is my favorite track from dream theaters self titled. I really like the orchestra mid section and the piano outro at the end.
