I don't mind a little Grinspoon, a buddy of mine here threw me a disc and It's chill, with a doobie and a cold one. I never really listened to much Australian tunes before I moved here but my first job here was a taxi driver and I'd just put on triple j and was introduced to many different bands here. A big plus in my transition stage

I remember Grinspoon being ok live when I saw them, and one of their albums was ok. Went rapidly downhill after the singer cleaned up though.

Their old stuff was great to listen to but now they are just a regular pop/rock band. Where did you live before aus?

I remember them being touted as the next best thing by Triple J radio around 2001 / 2002 ish. And for a while there it looked like they were going to take off and successfully capture the "Middle Of The Road Rock With Just Enough Edge To Be Played On Alternative Radio" market. And good luck to them.
But then.....nothing. The last I heard of them the singer was in rehab for an ice addiction. Idiot.
A friend of my at-the-time girlfriend bought me the album Alibis And Other Lies for my birthday about five years ago. She knew I liked "heavy, weird" music, so she bought me this - obviously convinced it was "weird and heavy".
For a laugh I gave it a spin. Obviously I wasn't expecting much, not even something I could listen to in the car while driving to the supermarket. But I wasn't prepared for how unbelievably DROSS the whole thing was. Shitty emo alt rock - a cross between Good Charlotte and some crappy bunch of amateurs mimicking AC / DC.
I donated it to charity the next time a collection came. I really should find out who eventually ended up with the cd and apologise to them.
That was really nasty of me.
