Yes it's official, announced on the newsletter. It's unfinished so give it a day or two.

Just to add to the fun, it looks like Tomahawk are also playing at the Tajin Festival in Mexico.

Wow, if I had the money I would definitely stay for the week. Sounds like good peaceful happy times.

Kittaan wrote:This is fairly obvious but what the hell: after the new album drops, they will likely start out by including 3-5 of the new tracks. Very unlikely they will increase set lengths, so as in the past they will drop older staples to accommodate. That means the little nuggets like 3rd Eye, Hooker, You Lied etc. will disappear for years (if not forever). Those complaining about more touring before new material may be missing this point? I have certainly enjoyed it and I'm hoping for another surprise in SF in March.

Granted, I'd rather have the new album, but this is certainly looking on the bright side.
I am trying to bring the tour discussion back to the right thread. I think that's a great way of looking at Kittaan. When I saw them in Jan of 2012 I saw songs that I would have probably never heard because they weren't supporting a new album. If they have an LA show as well as a Vegas show I will for sure be going to both. Most likely I will try to get a VIP package for one of the show also.

Looks like pre-sales are actually happening!
PLEASE NOTE THAT SOME ON-SALE DATES HAVE ALREADY CHANGED. As of now, Portland, Eugene and San Francisco will go on-sale on FRIDAY (24th).

Spokane and Reno on-sales will REMAIN on Saturday (25th).

We will do a very limited number of the VIP pack pre-sale for Portland, Eugene and San Francisco on Thursday (23rd). This will be on Toolarmy.com at 10:00am PST
and then on Toolband.com at 3:00pm PST.

Then we will do another small number of VIP pack pre-sales for Spokane and Reno on Friday (24th) at 10am PST on Toolarmy.com and 3pm PST on Toolband.com.

VIP Package looks exactly the same as for Aus/NZ tour

WHAT THE VIP PACKAGES INCLUDE:

- One (1) VIP ticket for admission to concert show
- Entry for one (1) to the VIP area in the venue

- Q+A session with Adam Jones
- Exclusive merchandise pack including:

1. An exclusive Tool tour t-shirt

having gone to one of the VIP's i highly recommend it!

I'm not sure what this would be really. Perhaps in front of the front barrier? It could also just mean they get let into the venue before the GA people, so they can score a spot against the rail.

Yeah, for GA @ Bill Graham in SF, I don't see how they could pull off a separation. And there's no way it will be seated. I bet you're right about the early entry. That's exactly what they did for Soundgarden at the same venue.

Gotta think that $300 for this VIP package would be the bottom of where pricing might start.

I personally discount the sound check/Q&A/laminate from financial consideration from the bands perspective b/c:
1) They have to sound check so who cares if some people are listening to it.
2) The Q/A will probably be longest on the first couple of shows until AJ gets beaten down by the same ?'s. it will probably end up being 15 minutes by the time it is in its groove.
3) Laminates are a dime a dozen especially since they have to print them for all the crew.

So the package breaks down like this IMO:

$70 - Ticket - lower level/GA
$50 - T-shirt
$40 - Poster unsigned - $130 - signed
$? - Goodie bag (who the hell knows) Keychains and stickers are pretty cheap ya know?

So $160 to $250 is the "value"

One would think that this is not enough of a profit margin for the band (and yes I know that the actual cost to the band is less than the sale values)

I could see a package with an unsigned poster going for $500 and with a signed poster for $750. Both of which are stupid cash, but would make it "worth it" for the band/cash grab aspect.

For what it is worth; my GF paid $900/ticket for a Motley Crue VIP package [ yuck I know :) ].
She got a ton a swag; Full CD discography all signed, dvd's signed, LP's signed, stock photos signed, signed pic with the band, T- shirt, blanket, front row seats, and a legit meet and greet with the entire band.

If something like that was offered I would be interested.

OR ELSE THAT WILL MAKE FOR A DAMN UPSET CHEESE.

I heard from Blair this morning, who confirmed for me that this tour will be pretty much West Coast only as suspected. He mentioned there may be a few other shows prior to the Mexican dates, but that's it. Also, this isn't the curveball, just in case anyone thought it was.

Thanks for the update, HB.

Man looking at the comments on Facebook those poor people think the new album is coming out before this tour. Hopefully they don't hold their breathe. So little updates about the new album to me means that they aren't even close. Does anybody remember when Blair first reported that tool was in the studio or anything like that back in 2005? I am pretty sure we didn't even know the 10,000 days album release date till March if I remember correctly. I really think it would be awesome if they have been recording in secret. I am sure that's not the case but Beyoncé busted out a new album a month ago and nobody had a clue she was doing that. So I guess if she can do it it's possible Tool could do it.
