i wish i had seen tool at bonnaroo. had a ticket which i sold shortly before and it turned out to be an incredible set visually and musically with great guest appearance by tom morello.

did see tool at epicenter fest in pomona 2009 which wasn't bad. pretty much a full set and easy in/out. big crowd and good sound.

coachella 06 was solid for a first show back

tool at ozzfest 98 was underwhelming but iirc it was an incredibly hot and they had a daytime slot.

i was hoping tool would headline the made in america fest downtown this summer. still scratching my head why it's been 4 years since they've played LA proper

Seeing Tool at Ozzfest '98 was great. Maynard was dressed up as a roadie throughout the day and would come out on stage and say oddball shit into the mic in between sets. Nobody knew it was him. He was poking fun at the other bands. He mentioned that some of the bands decided to go to a strip club the night before, then got into a huge brawl and there were some pretty severe injuries. Then later, Coal Chamber came out for their set and the lead singer had a broken arm in a sling. The daytime slot did kind of suck, but the sun was setting. It was only a 75 minute set, I think. Highlights were Third Eye, Eulogy, and H.

This was also highlighted by the fact the power went out during Linkin Park's set.

If Tool plays Coachella next year, I'd seriously consider going.

I went to it in 2007 when Rage Against the Machine reunited. I think few music festivals are worth traversing a continent for and spending a few grand in the process. Coachella (irrespective of all the hype) is one of those. From my experience at least.

Oh, this is just great. First Homer Simpson wrecks my pig, then Cypress Hill steals my orchestra, and now Sonic Youth's in my cooler.

I would literally cut off one of my testicles for a Tool curated ATP Festival. That is the only "festival" environment I can see myself truly enjoying anymore. I went to the Portishead curated one a few years ago in Asbury Park and it was phenomenal.

Are you clear on the definition of Literally?

If so, seek help.

Do I need to reiterate what I just said, or are you going to start shopping this proposal around? I'm cool with just one of these things.

Exactly. I'm on the fence about ever having children so seems like the right move.

We just need to find 9,999 dudes just like Joey and we can start a 10,000 Balls for new Tool album petition.

At the absolute worst, that would inspire a hell of an update newsletter on strange fan mail, no?
