I think he did some work on the second one. Don't quote me on that. I'm not really sure.

A decapitated, mummified head, featured in a great, big close-up in GHOSTBUSTERS II.
Sculpted at TCS by Adam Jones, now guitarist (and music video director for the band "TOOL".

From Wikipedia:
Jones worked on several other big films in Hollywood doing makeup and set design, including Jurassic Park, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Dances with Wolves, and Ghostbusters II. He did the "Freddy Krueger in the womb" makeup for A Nightmare on Elm Street 5: The Dream Child, as well as work for A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master.

There is little doubt that the new album artwork will be finger painting with perhaps some baby heel prints thrown in.
"She's a very charming and delightful creature, and has only one fault that I know of. It happens, unfortunately, that that single blemish is a want of taste. She don't like me."

Re: How will Tool approach the design of the new album?
they can start working on the design in a next few months or so, as soon as Tool finishes principle recording. because they are in the studio, right now.

It may just be simple packaging with lots of art. I hope that it's a double album more than anything else, with lots of long psychedelic interludes and crushing prog explorations. The bells and whistles don't really speak to me as much as elegant design and simplicity.

Sweet. Yeah. I don't need goggles or anatomical overlays. Just lots of music. It's been nearly ten years. 8 songs and lots of packaging will probably still blow my mind, but im hoping for more.
Re: How will Tool approach the design of the new album?
My guess is the artwork will be designed with vinyl in mind. Given that Adam has worked with a few comic artists in the years since 10k Days might give a clue as to a possible direction. Adam usually gives a few hints as to what the artwork is like - in the leadup to 10k Days there were plenty of 3D photos shared on Myspace.
I think we can all agree that we hope Alex Grey doesn't have a major part in the artwork this time around - I enjoy his stuff, but two album covers is enough.

I kinda agree. Grey blew my mind for a while, but they can go beyond his box. His stuff could just eat them up. I have been wondering if he would do a special thing for them or if they will use more of the tour poster style stuff Adam is doing? I really like the posters and it feels more reflective of the band.
